Finding a game: Gamefinder

Gamefinder is a page on the FUMBBL website which lists other coaches and their teams who are looking for a game right now.

Things to be aware of before you dive in:

  • Gamefinder works for Competitive Division and League Division teams. For the purposes of this help guide you need to have already created a team in Competitive division to play using Gamefinder. Read the introduction to divisions if you're not sure what they are. In general it's much easier to find games on Gamefinder with Competitive division teams rather than League division teams.
  • You might want to understand Coach rankings to get an indication of the skill of your opposing coach

When you're good to go, follow the steps below.

  • Click on Gamefinder (under the Game menu) then click "Choose teams" in the top right to decide which teams you want to play with. this will present you with a list of your teams that can be used in Gamefinder
  • Tick the boxes next to the teams you want to play with If you only have one team then click on that. Now click "Activate teams".
  • Once your team(s) are activated you'll see the list of other coaches who are also looking for a game, if you click on the drop down arrow to the left of their name it will show you the list of their teams.
  • You can click on an opponent's teams and send offers to them. Other coaches can do the same to your team(s).
  • If you receive an offer from an opponent it will appear in the Offers box on the left hand side and you can accept / decline. Its is ok to decline a game if you don't like the look of it. Once a game has been accepted by both coaches a download will begin, open the download to start the game (you can also join from the "Resume" link next to your team on your coach home page).

Gamefinder will only allow offers to be sent between compatible teams, so you don't need to worry about that. Gamefinder also includes rules to prevent unfair offers involving teams that have not played many games.

On the Gamefinder page, you'll also find the Blackbox scheduler in the top left, this allows you to be given a 'random' opponent every 15 minutes. Head to the Blackbox help for more details.
