Famous Teams
The Hobgoblin Team - first mentioned in 2nd edition, who later changed their name to The Hobgoblins.

Background
Once Hobgoblins were slaves of the Chaos Dwarves and worked alongside the Black Orc slaves in the pits and workshops of the Dark Lands. That is until the great uprising; both joined forces to overthrow the Chaos Dwarves. The mass numbers of Hobgoblins and Black Orcs were too much for the Chaos Dwarves and the Dwarves were almost defeated, they had retreated to the temple of Hashut the green tide drawing ever nearer. But at the final hour of their defeat the Hobgoblins changed allegiance and helped slaughter the Black Orcs, saving their former slave masters. Many of the Black Orcs escaped and joined forces with the Orcs. The remaining Black Orcs were kept as slaves and forced down the pits once more.

The Hobgoblins from this day forth were never treated as slaves again and were looked on in favour by the Chaos Dwarves. No longer would they work in the pits and workshops. Instead they were given weapons and trained as warriors or paid by the Chaos Dwarves to work as slavers, or paid players in their Bloodbowl teams.

The Hobgoblins were allowed to leave the Dark Lands and re-join the few Hobgoblins that avoided enslavement in the eastern steppes. Within a few years the Hobgoblin hordes grew to an uncountable size, prowling the lands on Wolf back to the north of Cathay. They are now ruled by their Khans once more who answer only to the Hobgobla-Khan the Hobgoblin Warlord.

The dry plains, rocky outcrops and cold forests of the Steppes; at one time deserted are now overrun with Hobgoblins. They live in makeshift homes surrounding crude Bloodbowl Stadiums. Shanty towns of tents and log huts, draped in tousled furs and cloth sprawl across the lands as far as the eye can see.

While some Hobgoblins still live in the Dark Lands and continue to play alongside the Chaos Dwarves Bloodbowl teams, many now play in their homeland for their Khans. Hobgoblin slavers supply their Khans with a steady supply of Black Orcs and Trolls for their teams. Hobgoblins and their elite foot soldiers known as Sneaky Gits make up the rest of the teams.

Rationale
Designing the Hobgoblin team was pretty straight forward. Hobgoblins made up the teams Linemen and naturally they use the same stat line as the Hobgoblins from the Chaos Dwarf team.

Sneaky Gits were added for two reasons. First of all they were a unit featured in the Chaos Dwarf 4th edition warhammer Chaos Dwarf army book. Secondly they are also represented in Bloodbowl in the form of Hobgoblin star player - Rashnak Backstabber. Their skill set was taken from the Rashnak. Though Rashnak is slightly more developed - starting with Side Step which the Rookie Sneaky Gits do not have and an additional +Ma over the rookie.

Black Orcs are part of the roster because they were created by Chaos Dwarves and kept as slaves. A lot of them escaped from their capture to join the Orc hordes, but many were kept in enslavement. They gain animosity because of their hatred towards Hobgoblins for keeping them as slaves. After the Hobgoblin uprising Hobgoblins were no longer kept as slaves by the Chaos Dwarves and they actually worked as slave drivers, their mass numbers keeping the remaining Black Orcs, Trolls and any other enslaved creatures inline.

Finally Trolls were added to the roster keeping the typical Troll stat line.

Season 2 Changes
170 games played, win percentage is 55%. This suggests they are performing as a tier 1 team. This is fine with me, although i think the overall weakness of Secret League teams makes this team appear stronger than they are, after all they are essentially a worse version of the Orc roster.

Season 3
% 214 games played win percentage 56% This suggests they are performing as a tier 1 team. This is fine with me, although i think the overall weakness of Secret League teams makes this team appear stronger than they are, after all they are essentially a worse version of the Orc roster. I suspected when creating the roster they would be a tier 1.5 team, they seem to be doing better than I thought they would, likely as a result of playing most of their matches at a low TV. .
