Simyin

Note - unlike other rosters, no Simyin team has yet to have had many games, much less the 1000's that represent "successful" skill development as listed for other Races.

All opinions here are based on "best guesses" and past experience with other (hopefully applicable) races and positionals.

Silverback (S, Wild Animal)

  • 1st normal skill: Juggernaut (if no Block) or Guard
  • 2nd normal skill: Guard or Juggernaut
  • 3rd normal skill: Break Tackle
  • 4th normal skill: Stand Firm
  • 1st doubles skill: Block
  • 2nd doubles skill: Pro

Gorillas (AS)

as "position specialists" (this order may vary)

  • 1st normal skill: Guard
  • 2nd normal skill: Dodge
  • 3rd normal skill: Break Tackle
  • 4th normal skill: Sidestep or Stand Firm
  • Doubles skill: Block, Tackle

as "killers"

  • 1st normal skill: Mighty Blow
  • Later skills: Dodge, Break Tackle, Stand Firm
  • Doubles skill: Block, Tackle

Chimpanzee (GA)

  • 1st normal skill: Dodge
  • 2nd normal skill: Strip Ball or Tackle
  • 3rd normal skill: Tackle or Strip Ball
  • Later normal skills: Side Step, Diving Tackle, Frenzy, Shadowing
  • Double Skills: Guard, Mighty Blow

You probably(?) want 2 kinds of Chimps - one Sweeper (Tackle/Frenzy) and one Marker (SS, DT, Shadow). ymmv.

chimp as ballcarrier

  • 1st normal skill: Dodge
  • 2nd normal skill: Block
  • 3rd normal skill: Sure Hands
  • 4th normal skill: Sidestep
  • Later normal skills: Fend, Sure Feet

Developing one of your 2 Chimpanzees as a designated ballcarrier is debated. On the plus side, MA 7 is nice, and they have Dodge access without needing doubles (compare to Bonobo ballcarrier, below). However, starting with Wrestle, Chimps seem better suited as sweepers. But, for a positional that picks up loose balls on a 2+, adding Block to keep them on their feet is not a terrible thing for defense. ymmv.

Orangutan (GP)

As Leader Caddy:

  • 1st normal skill: Leader or Block
  • 2nd normal skill: Block or Leader
  • 3rd normal skill: Fend
  • Double Skills: Guard, Dodge

As Thrower:
(this order may vary)

  • 1st normal skill: Pass
  • 2nd normal skill: Accurate
  • 3rd normal skill: Kick-off Return
  • Later normal skills: Sure Hands, Block, Fend, Leader (not if another Orangutan is Leader Caddy, as above)
  • Double Skills: Dodge, Sure Feet

Bonobos (G)

as lineman (this order may vary)

  • 1st normal skill: Block/Wrestle
  • 2nd normal skill: Tackle/Strip Ball/Fend
  • Utility skills: Kick, Dirty Player, Dauntless, Frenzy
  • Double Skills: Guard, Mighty Blow

With so much Grab, one early Frenzy on the team can be very handy for surprise crowd-surfs. Because all your +St positionals start with Grab, by The Rules they can never take Frenzy.

as ballcarrier

  • 1st normal skill: Block
  • 2nd normal skill: Sure Hands
  • 3rd normal skill: Fend
  • Later normal skills:
  • Double Skills: Dodge, Sidestep, Catch

This may be better than developing one of the MA 7 Chimpanzees as ballcarrier, as Wrestle does not keep them standing, and they seem better suited as sweepers. The first Bonobo that doubles gets Dodge and becomes the designated ballcarrier.
