FLUFF
After sailing the seven seas, a lot of retired captains look for other means of income and thrills. So they round up their old crew (or what's left of them) and start a BloodBowl?-team, which sure gives the thrills, and sometimes the money.
Why does a Pirate-team contain halflings? Their enlarged feet makes them excellent sailors, not prone to falling or illness when the seas gets high. Some of them are also very adventurous and likes the thrill. Also, their interest in cooking, for example makes sure noone gets scurvy.
So, what does the general Pirate-team look like?
CAPTAIN The strongiest, hardiest, drunkiest, ugliest fellow runs the ship and keeps everybody happy/in line. Also he is the only one with keys/maps to the treasure, so no-one messes with him. Bone Head? Do you think those kegs are filled with water?
FIRST MATE Probably not the first mate of the captain, but an inherited title of a pirate supreme.
PEGLEG Who is better to break a leg on a prone player than a fellow who has lost his in a freak cannon/crocodile/shark/cooking-accident? Of course he is not fast, but he is sturdy.
PARROT The loyal henchman (?) of the Captain. He is mostly annoying, getting in the way of everything. His Pass Block without hands is so he can get close enough to be annoying anyway... Picking up the ball is not his thing; picking some other player in the face is more his thing.
MONKEY Not a sea-monkey. Mostly aboard a pirateship for rat-eating and company. A symbol of the captains 'status'. If he has a monkey or two he gains braggingrights about him being 'everywhere on the seven seas'.
PIRATE The average pirate. Semi-drunk and still well balanced, mostly because the ship cringes the opposite way.
