Redrafting teams

In rulesets where Seasons are enabled, teams will need to redraft every so often. This can be either by choice, or forced due to reaching the limit of games in a season or through completing certain types of tournaments.

In the normal case, once a team has finished their number of matches in a season and finish their post-match sequence, the team will go into the End of Season state. From here, teams can either enter tournaments or the coach can choose to go into redrafting.

Once a team enters redrafting, the budget is calculated according to the ruleset configuration, and the team treasury is updated to match the difference between the budget and the current cost of the team. Normally, this will be negative.

In order to finish redrafting, the team needs to be adjusted to a point where the treasury is non-negative (ie, zero or positive). The team must also have a total of 11 players on the team, much like during original team creation.

While in the redrafting mode, players can be fired and rookies can be hired, but there is also the possibility of rehiring fired players, and refunding hired rookies giving the coach an opportunity to switch things around and try various combinations. Fired players will end up in the sidebar where rookies can be hired from.

Once the team has been modified to comply, the redrafting process can be completed and the following sequence will be performed:

  • 1. All Miss Next Game injuries on players will be removed
  • 2. For each niggling injury on the players, a d6 roll will be made where rolling 4 or higher will remove the niggling injury (a +1 modifier is applied if the team has an apothecary)
  • 3. For each "lasting injury" on a temporarily retired player, a d6 roll will be made in the same way as for niggling injuries above. If successful, the lasting injury is converted to a niggling injury instead. This newly created niggling injury will not be rolled for.

Be aware that this takes place after the team has paid for the rehiring of the player, and that there is no opportunity to fire anyone until after the first game in the next season has been played.

For Fumbbl's Competitive division, the settings are:

  • 15 games per season
  • 1000k gold base budget
  • 10k gold per game
  • 10k gold per win
  • 5k gold per tie
  • 1350k redraft cap
  • 70k per game ramp-up for the cap
  • 20k cumulative agent fee per season
