Background__
Von Carstein Vampires are one of the oldest blood lines, and among the most disciplined and powerful vampires.
The Von Carstein vampires only started playing Blood Bowl recently. The first team was put together after watching lesser vampires try and fail too often to win The Blood Bowl, or any trophy for that matter. The Von Carsteins took it upon themselves to show the Old World, and then the rest of The World that the Vampire race were a force to be reckoned with and those bearing the Von Carstein name were the pinnacle of their species.
Rationale
I wanted the Von Carstein roster to be quite basic, and not have too much extra over the standard Vampire roster. I added the Spirit Hosts to the roster because when you look at any Von Carstein vampire warhammer armies or read any background about Von Carstein he is always surrounded by Ghosts. It just felt a perfect fit. Thralls stay as normal, I considered allowing skeletons and Zombies as well but felt this stood on the toes of some of the other vampire alternate rosters I have created, plus didn't add a great deal of flavour or individuality to the team. Then I just needed to do the Vampires them selves. Von Carstein vampires are overall the most powerful, though others specialise in their own way. Strigoi are brutal feral killers, Blood Knights are well disciplined knights but lack finesse, Lahmian vampires are all about finesse and stealth, and Necrarch are weaker than the others but have control of their Blood Lust. So I wanted Von Carstein to be the good all rounders, but better than 'normal' vampires. To use a term oft coined by Jimmyfantastic - I wanted these vampires to be pro as heck. So basically I just kept them as standard Vampires but gave them access to P skills so they are able to take any skill they wish on a single roll and they start with the Pro skill which is a pretty big boost. While they might not be as good in a specialised area as some of the other vampire teams, this team should grow in to the best all rounders of the vampires in time.
Season 2
In season 1 this race played 300 games with a win ration of 64% this was too high. Though as this team was an experiment to see how good normal vamps would be with the addition of pro at no extra cost, it has given us enough data to suggest that they may be too good. However their great win ratio was largely down to one extremely successful team. After this season we increased the cost of the Vampires by 10k for their extra skill, and I moved the P access to doubles so they no longer had easy Leader access. I also adjusted the rules on Spirit Hosts in line with Ethereal teams Spirit Hosts. As this could be construed as a buff I made it so they are not obtainable through purchasing, and only join the team after killing an opposing player, which is a nice fluffy and fun thematic change, without making the team better.
Season 3
411 games played and the win percentage has come down to 51.95%. This puts the roster in the tier 1 range which is as expected. I have locked this roster in place now, it has had sufficient testing.
