Maybe someone here can help me- not sure, if i chose the right part of the Forum...

Since a couple of month, I always get a "Sicherheitsausnahme", as it is called in German (what translates to ~"security exception"):
"MalformedURLexeption: unknown protocol: socket"

That wasn't tooo bad for me, as I couldn't find the time to play anyways, but now I want to win the FUMBBL-Cup Embarassed ... So I need some help on that issue. Anyone an Idea, what I can do? This google-thing, everyone talks about these days, isn't helpful to me, 'cause there is only programmer-talk to find, I think - and I can't speak a single word programmerish...

Oh, right... No, I can't play. The error always occures when I downloaded this Java-thing "ffblive.jnlp" that starts the game... even when wanting to watch a game. I reinstalled Java, but the error stays the same :-/

I think it's probably a firewall/router issue. I have actually no basis for how 'malformed URL exception' fits into all this which makes that theory kinda weak. But on rare occasions errors can be weird.

I'm thinking the new weak encryption Christer installed because some coaches couldn't play with their outdated OS anymore may cause unsecure connection blocking and that error message is spawned because Java can't reach anymore its specified target,

But as mentioned, it's a weak theory. You haven't been really fourthcoming with information and what you mean with 'it happens when you download the jnlp file' isn't clear to me either. I assume you mean to suggest it happens to you after you have downloaded it, started java and tried to connect. And that you get the message on the status screen.

If you do not get to that point and get the message imidiatly ON start up of java but AFTER downloading the jnlp IN java in form of an alert message that would indicate to me file corruption. Which could either mean you don't start the client with javaws.exe or well... that java is just broken and that it needs to be reinstalled.

Puuuuh - I have not really an idea, but I'll try to bring a little more information.

When I click on the Link, where you enter a match (to watch it), a dialogue opens, asking, if I want to save the file (this ffblive.jnlp), or if I want to open it with ???.
I answer "open with "Java(TM) Web Start Launcher (standard)" " - that's how I always entered matches.
Now, Firefox downloads this file, and beginst starting Java, and during this startinf process, the error occures

In this warning - window, I can click "more information", here I get this list of (to me) crazy letter-nonsense Wink

I'll have to ask my software-guru, I think... seems more complex than to solve it via this forum...

btw.: reinstalled Java about 5 times now, that cannot be the problem. And if it's my antivirus-wall - Bitdefender - my software guru is the person to blame, so he'll have to solve the problem Wink

Ok, are you using any proxy servers? Cloud services or the like?

If the source of the problem is a specific program like an antivirus program can be determined easy enough.
Just shut it temporarily off, try to spectate a game and see if you can connect.

Once you have determined the source of the problem it'll be much easier to determine the best course of action to fix it.

Control panel -> Java -> General -> Network Settings... -> Direct Connection -> OK -> OK

Then try again.

Christer is the closest thing to God that Fumbbl has. He is the all-knowing, all-powerful creator of Fumbbl.

Almost worth worshipping!!! ;P
