I was wondering whether the following names given to a goblin bombardier might be considered unappropriated.
I pretend to do an ironic joke, but perhaps they might be "rude"; so I've decided to ask to avoid problems.
Goblin Bombardier:
1- Isis
2- Allah Akbar
Probably the second one is not acceptable, perhaps the first?

I would certainly not use the second name in that context. Religious generalization like that is rarely funny, and implicating that Muslims are all bombers isn't the best choice here.
As for Isis, it's borderline as far as I'm concerned. It's not funny to me personally, but to each their own. Mind you, I have used Isis as a name for players myself, but in an Egyptian context which is wildly different.
As a rule of thumb, though, if you're uncertain it's often better to find another name. |

I was just wondering as that question risen up in my mind.
Isis would be the borderline for ISIS (which indeed is inappropriate).
All in all, I was merely wondering how much "irony" would have been read in the context.

Enough important people have given you a hint. I can't see what you have to gain from doing this. I've lived in Islamic countries and I'd suggest that if you did something like this, you'd need your head examined. Just not worth it, just not funny. |
