Fans in shock: Last game for the Monsters on Sunday?
Cabal News+ has lately announced the team's participation in another anniversary match, the 200th for human lineman team Ranked Amateurs. This game is also set up as a fundraiser for FUMBBL and will kick off at 21:00 bbtime on Sunday 12th of February 2517. (There's still time until the kickoff to pledge some gold for the good cause!)
What startled fans and media alike is the statement that this would be "their last [game] with the current squad". No player or staff member was willing to comment on this so far. Head coach Rabe has not been seen for days, it's said that he's heading back from Cathay (where he coaches a college team) on the fastest ways, but there's know information whether he'll be back in time. And rumor has it that any decision in the past days could only have been done without his consent!

Mass retirement becomes true
The seven players who announced their retirement just before the Monsters' big fundraiser match have all ended their careers:
Torl "The Rock" Stone (22 games)
Eck "Headmaster" Hammerthrow (29 games)
Harad "Reckless" Woodchopper (48 games)
Rila "Apocalypse" Bullrush (65 games)
Xovor "Fanatic" Leadfist (87 games)
Groin, Brother of Garumbar "The Fallen" Lighthammer (143 games)
Rhoda, Twin Sister of Dhuna "Runaway" Mithrilheart (204 games)
It's the end of an era, but also the start of a new one. When Baruk, the team captain, regained consciousness one day later, the whole team had a big party, including the complete staff, all past players that could participate and any fans that were in the area. No wonder the team treasury was empty afterwards. But, as head coach Rabe said: "Who cares?! We are sharing a historical moment here! Who needs money when you have a team... full of friendships... *hick* ...like this?!" (He then passed out.)
We say thank you for many great games!

Baruk leads the team despite severe injuries
Disregarding a serious concussion he had suffered last Sunday, Baruk Faithchanger will stay with the team. "I have only just taken over the role as a team captain", he stated. "I'll muscle through and lead the new team to its first wins, inspiring fresh recruits and fans!"
Rumor has it he's also keen to learn a little bit more for his ongoing presence in the Agility Monsters Allstars team.

First game "after" is a loss - but Rabe is content
Only one day after the big goodbye party, Nogli, Brumbas and Orin hit the pitch again, accompanied by no less than eight journeymen. They played a good match against Chaos Pact team "Rough" and only lost due to some massive elfball performed by the opposed Dark Elf renegade (who unluckily fell in the last minutes of the game and likely ends his career).
Our legends showed the youngsters on the other side how it's done, Nogli with a completion, a touchdown and a casualty, Brumbas with two of the latter, one of them being a dead strength-boosted marauder. Are we going to see more bash in the future? Time will tell. More importantly:
The Monsters are back!

I'm just glad that despite 7 people leaving, I'm still on the team. =D |

You are the star. If you like to see some nice action, check out the last two replays.
I'm optimistic that the team will shape up nicely around Nogli and Brumbas. |

team has become Brumbass Soildigger and the 8 journeyman dwarves.
Glad Brumbass stayed though. He's the real soul of the monsters. |

Don't forget Nogli! The are a great duo: Brumbas handles the opposition and Nogli the ball.
Last game, Nogli even through a bomb - since he can do that far better than Boomer, who simply passed it to the runner.
With nice winnings last match, we are also optimistic that the number of journeymen will slowly, but continuously decrease. |

Brumbas playes his 250th game
A casual game against coach Rabe's friendly (and slighty more successful) rival Harad marked a milestone in FUMBBL's oldest dwarf's career: Brumbas Soildigger hit game #250 with another solid performance, giving the opposed High Elves a headache.
Brumbas, with a smile: "My thanks go out to Nuffle. That's all I have to say - others can celebrate, if they wish to."

"Ninja Dwarf" joins the team
The first new Monsters recruit after the big retirement wave is - not much of a surprise - a runner: Gerambolosh Goldeneye. During his job interview he mentioned that he was called "Ninja Dwarf" in the backyards of the human cities where he grew up and the nick name immediately stuck with him. Let's hope he lives up to it!
