Well, not necessarily you, but it does need a new editor. Purplegoo, our previous editor has decided to resign after 2 years of headaches - err... 2 issues. Those were among the best the GLN has ever produced, and he definitely deserves a round of applause.
But he also needs a successor.
You don't have to be qualified foe the job - heck, we're talking about stapling together articles written by bloody Goblins. But you have to be motivated. Enough to cope with the lazy bunch of a team I'm proud to be part of. It's all about advertising for contributions, hassling people, and waiting till the guy with the keys to the printing room wakes up (hello, that's me!). So yes, it's all about staying motivated in the long run.
Please, post in this topic if you feel you're the right guy for the job. Again, you need one thing and one thing only: the will to make the GLN great again.
Wait... What? Forget that! We just want a new issue.
To be frank, I'm not sure who or how the new editor will be selected if we have several candidates. I guess you'll be invited to a group PM and the latest GLN contributors will decide.

Good hustle, Kam.
I can thoroughly recommend the position of editor. Sure, there is a fair amount of herding cats and being a pedantic old so and so, but contributing to an institution as historic (in FUMBBL terms) and cool as the GLN is a very satisfying thing.
Get stuck in! |

As a former GLN employee and former editor, I can also recommend the position! |

I'd be happy to release -(1)- GLN edition. I have plenty of material in mind and I think it will be easy for me to find quite a few contributors. |

I think wreckage can manage 1 gln issue with reasonable quality. The issue would have a diatinct feel but i see it as an advantage after the last issue generated very little feedback. I think a little controversy is warranted. |

Don't worry, you were the first on my list of people needed to make this a success.
You wanna go with a Q&A for the community again or do you have something different in mind? |

I'm not sure we generated that little feedback in comparison to previous GLN issues. We got some nice comments both here and elsewhere on the 'net and I didn't really push the feedback thing in the way previous editors did. I seem to remember the last issue being well received across the various notices?
Either way, I'm not defensive about it, I just thought the comment curious. Wreckage gets my vote, good luck to him and his team! |

Yeah, the number of reads for the last issue is disappointingly low, but so many factors can explain that (like how long the announcement remained on FUMBBL home page, or - unfortunately - how many coaches still play on FUMBBL compared to the previous years...). It doesn't really matter if you ask me. What matters is it was an amazing issue, for so many reasons (quality articles, fluff - lots of it -, nice artwork, new fun concepts like the bloody puzzle, etc). All I can say is it's the issue I've enjoyed the most since I've started working for the GLN.
And if it can reassure you, the one issue I've edited is also the one with the lowest number of views. But it's still thanks to that revival that the GLN is still going on... So, at the end of the day - who cares? |
