Hi! I am a great fan of the card game, and as you can expect, this is a thread directed towards those who love it too! I have been in the business of creating variant Teams for the game, and I am doing up the 10th Team right now.
The first Union is the Albion Football Institution, which consists of the High Elves, the Elven Union, and the Halflings.
The second is the Fierce Jungle Consortium, which consists of the Lizardmen, the Amazon, and the Norse.
The third is the Northern Nations Alliance, which consists of the Kislev, the Bretonnians, and the Ogres. This Union is not complete, I have only finished with the Kislev and Bretonnian Teams, and am currently working on the Ogres.
And the fourth, the Chaos Dark Evil Pact, or just Chaos Dark Evil, which consists of the Khornate Horns, the Tzeentchian Renegades, and the Slaaneshi Corruptors(?)?
I am looking for someone right now to help me with the Ogres. The following link leads to a collation of all my works, that are finished and concluded. Although they haven't been playtested, so it might still be opened to further change. Here it is:
(I can't post a link for some reason. Any help? |

Welcome.
I think you need to be a member for a certain amount of time or number of posts before you can add links. |

Hi, thanks for the response! Interested in talking about the game with me? It is quite possibly my favourite card game ever! I have been designing variant teams for the game, and have been progressing smoothly, but I would still love to have someone to discuss ideas with! |

High Elf Team: This is a Team about speed, ball-handling, and the anti-thesis to cheating. They are all about law, order, and don't just not cheat, but prevents the opponent from cheating too! Like the other Elf Teams, they are fast, but the wealthy Galadrieth Gladiators can afford among the highest armour, granting them a defensive playstyle. Their Team Upgrades are extremely powerful, and among the three Elf Teams, they are possibly the most well-rounded.
Elven Union Team: This Team is the most well-rounded of the four Elven Teams, as well as the most potential for specialisation, since their ordinary Players can gain Veteran status, something like somewhere between regular and Star Players.
Halfling Team: The Halfling Team has some of the lowest Star Power distributed among their numbers, but have ways of increasing them through Food Tokens, although you can't have your cake and eat it too! They usually have no means of performing any Skills, but just have them ingest a Food Token, and watch them become temporarily above par, at least for a few moments!
Lizardman Team: This is a Team that hits hard and fast. The Skinks, Sauruses, and Kroxigors each have their roles in the greater scheme of things, and have great ways of preventing the movement and actions of the opposing Team.
Amazon Team: A Team that starts all with Dodge, to offset their somewhat fragility, their Team Upgrades have great synergy.
Norse Team: A Team that all of them have Tackle, their Team Upgrades too have great synergy, and they hit especially hard for a bashy Team.
Kislev Team: Kislev is all about Leaping around, you have great mobility to select where you want to play your Players, able to change positions and thus strategy on the fly.
Bretonnian Team: The Bretonnians are similarly categorised into three distinct roles like the Lizardmen, in this order, Peasant, Yeoman, and Knight, with the Knight being one of the more formidable out of all regular Players. This is offset somewhat by the subpar nature of the other two roles in the Team, the Peasant and Yeoman.
Ogre Team: The Ogres have some of the strongest regular Players, as well as the weakest out of all existing Teams. That said, they are not a Team to be scoffed at, for facing off against 6 Ogres is no laughing matter. |

I believe you need to play a game before you can post links, a new security feature to prevent scammers from spamming the forum with Indian moving companies advertisments. |

You should read the quick start guide:
https://fumbbl.com/help:CRP
It explains what FUMBBL is and how to create a team, and how to get a game going. |

If you want send me the link via pm and I'll post it here.
Forum had too much spam, so links can only be posted by players who play a game on fumbbl.
I like the card game but it is too long ago for me to really talk in detail about it. But it is a great way to celebrate the fluff without playing a 1+ hour board game. |

Looking at the Eagles and Gladiators rosters I thought I would add my tuppence about what they are (should be/my view) about.
The Gladiators and Eagles are from 2nd edition fluff. This is late 80s very early 90s GW.
GW were a very different company back then. They were transitioning from a traditional Role Playing company to a Fantasy Wargames one.
Where now rules and fluff are quite rigid and detailed; back then things were left deliberately vague so that the punters could flesh out/add detail and use their own imagination to personalize their teams and fluff. This was encouraged. Balance didn't really exist in favour of customising to your tastes.
So with that said the below is printed fact/deduction/and my customisation.
The major races teams of 2nd edition seemed to be tiered. With an excellent team/very good team/average team and a below average.
Excellent/very good being: Eagles/Gladiators Eye/Raiders Reavers/Marauders Cowboys/Nightwings Giants/Warhammerers.
Without doubt these 2 Elf teams were the very best Elf teams of the time. How they rate against the Dragons.......well they have a lot more star power, so in my opinion favourably.
So with that said, both the Eagles and Gladiators should be based off of the best version of Elves in 'team manager'.
However, lookwise they are definitely pro/union elf style.
The outlook of both teams could not be any different. This is highlighted in the 2 team captains. Brothers Lucian and Valen Swift. Valen is unquestionably the best thrower of a football in the game, probably ever. His brother however is a blitzer of high repute. One thing they do share in common is they're both born leaders.
The Eagles had a young roster, but were extremely traditional. This means their style is based around a time 'before' Elves used blitzers. Fluff I read or fluff I added they dabbled with trying blitzers, but it didn't really work out. So the original Elf team from 2nd edition had 2 throwers up to 8 catchers and 12 linemen.
So for me, an Eagles team should have the best catchers available. High Elf, Wood Elf, Pro Elf a mixture? They should not have access to blitzers, but have access to more or better catchers. They also have 4 oustanding star players, playing the pass game.
The Gladiators on the other hand were revolutionary. An Elf team that specialized in the running game. They had catchers (Sidewinder was a Gladiator player), but it was their blitzers that were special. No more so than Lucian, without doubt the best Elf blitzer in the game.
So tunnel visioned are the Gladiators, they refuse to use the throwing game even when it makes sense. A bit like the football teams that refuse to kick it long and play out from the back.
So with these details I feel a Gladiator team should have pass options totally removed. No 'P' access or skills and definitely no throwers. However they should have more blitz options and more blitzers available.
The catchers stay, but the throwers are removed as well as the throwing skills.
Probably a bit late in the day, but I hope this helps with the 'feel' of the 2 teams. |
