You can try to launch a game from a JNLP file by these steps

Make sure you have set up the Java Runtime Environment .
Download and save the JNLP file to your PC.
To open the JNLP file; right click it and then select Ooen and then select java Web Start Launcher. Click and Choose another app and locate the Java installation location to choose the launcher if it is not shown.
This should be the start of the game.

I hope this will helpful for you

I wanted to share the root cause for my issue. I was using High DPI in Windows and this caused JNLP to not launch. I had to turn off High DPI for this to work. Hope this helps.

I would strongly recommend using the latest OpenJDK and OpenWebStart instead of the ancient Java 8. While we're currently officially targeting Java8 as the primary platform, it's probably mostly a matter of time before we transition to focusing on a more modern platform as the primary target.

I'd be happy to have more people use and test the client on the latest OpenJDK (currently v23) rather than Java8.
