I think human's strength is their cheapness and flexibility, they're pretty good at all aspects of the game. but they don't truely excel at anything

So why top coaches aren't picking them in BBT- my guess is they're picking rosters that are less flexible, more focused on one playstyle, and then leaning into maximising that playstyle

Also if you look at the tier3 rosters for BBT season 11, the others in the same price bracket were more interesting / unusual / less commonly played. And part of the meta-game is picking rosters that other coaches won't, to try and get the bonus for racial lead

Anyway, BBT meta is way off topic for the noob OP
They should probably just pick humans or orcs or whatever and start learning

Humans are fine at high TV, but the game changes in nature.

At rookie value, there's no one right way. A Team Re-Roll is two applications of whatever reroll skill you want, whenever you want it, on whoever you want it on (if they don't already have it), per game, so it's perfectly fine to just take like 13 Linemen, 6 Rerolls, and 6 Fans, it's not nearly as weak as it sounds because all those rerolls are kinda like positionals, and your reserves let you foul or absorb early damage. Not really recommending it, but I do it all the time and it's fine. But whether you skimp and take 3 rerolls, or you make room for 4, or you stretch out to 5, it almost doesn't matter, at least not outside the realm of personal taste.

At high value, Humans have lots of benefit from random first skills on Linemen. Fish for Guard or Mighty Blow on random secondaries, or just spam random primaries and keep a Kicker, a Dirty Player, and whatever Block, Wrestle, Tackle, or whatnot that you rolled and like. (Me, I tend to also keep Dauntless, Fend, Pro, and maybe Frenzy.) So you end up like 200k cheaper than anything comparable, and suddenly it's not "Humans" but "Humans with Ivar" or Karla, Rumbelow, Zug, whatever the situation calls for. (Ivar is totally broken on a Human squad; Raiding Party on a team with MB Blitzers and MA8 Catchers is disturbing.)

Hopefully someday I'll be a good coach so that as I'll be picking Humans every BBT, that I can be that top coach choosing humans for the BBT.
