Enough to prove that your statement is wrong:
"you play only tier 1 and do mediocre".
Feel free to do better than me with Elven Union and Khorne (just to mention two tier 2 teams I play).
If you have the fetish of playing RRR and TV 1000 forever, good for you. I would find it super boring, even if I won every game I played at TV 1000. |

I consider only the Box rankings, as you know. |

Because the sample size of my Box games is way bigger than my tournament games.
I played just 10 tournament games, because I don't like the TV 1000 format and the Majors are full of teams farmed on GF. (edit. my teams played most of their games in the Box, unlike most of the teams I face in Majors, played on GF with picking and reaching super high TV. In the Box it's super hard to farm above 2000 TV because you don't find games at that TV).
I would play more tournament games if they were more balanced (with a TV cap or Re-Draft and Box-only teams).
edit. Carthage is right, so I shut up from now on, sorry. |

Yeah I’d agree with you in relation to CR. I guess for me the target at moment is either BBT or NAF so for those it’s 1pt Win versus 1/2pt Draw
So a 0/5/0 record is worth same as 2/1/2
But possibly the 2/1/2 was a bit more action packed entertainment, which I think is the ultimate goal for me.. to have a bit of daft fun with a silly game.
I’d like to be cooler about losing tho, I’m working on losing gracefully ^^ always room for improvement. |

Format really matters. In a 2/1/0 format, play for the math, which usually means playing for the draw, but definitely not always. In 3/1/0, weight the win double against non-rivals, weight the win only half* against rivals unless you really need that one point super bad, then double or more. In an OT game, play for the win if you can't preserve resources, the draw if you can. In a one-off with friends, play for the win.
*You're actually weighting the loss double, but presumably that's the inverse of the win here and this way we can keep it in the same terms. Do be aware if this flaw in the method, though, as it might come up in corner cases. |

I always play for the win in the first half, even if the situation seems bleak or unfavorable (or it might be better to just preserve ones players), and then adjust for the second half depending on how things go. I am rather strongly affected by psychology in this game and rarely have the will to play for a win if I get utterly smashed in the first half, especially if the failure came as a result of mistakes as opposed to dice, so I tend to play for a draw whenever things go off to a bad start. All of this is putting aside tactical reasons to push for a win in particular settings and competitions, to be clear. |
