I play with a few teams with trolls with projectile vomit but I often don't know the best time to use it.

Do I only use it when the alternative is one block dice?

Do I use it when the other player has block and dodge?

Do I use it on low AV players?

What factors do you take into account to make the decision?

Can someone give me some guidance of examples of when it is best to vomit and when it's best to block?

Hi, you pretty answered too your own question, no ? Smile All these examples seem valid. I would just add one : you want to be 100% this block won't result in a turnover.

Most of the time I use it because no turnover.

I guess I don't know how to calculate whether to vomit or 2-block against an AV8 player for example. Should I generally vomit instead of a one dice block? What about if the opposing player only has one of dodge or block? etc.

I'm trying to figure out the line when to consider vomit so if people have real examples of when you would say yes or no to choosing vomit that would be helpful.

I usually use it after a big night out. Sometimes during.

I'd focus more on failures rather than successes.

Vomit failure most likely still leaves you marking an opponent so it's effectively a 1 in 6 to self vomit x 6/36 for a self AV break.

Blocks will be 2/6 fails on 1D (assuming you don't want both down). And 4/36 on a 2D.

So fail rates
33% on a 1D
11% on a 2D
3% Vomit

Success rates
33% on a 1D (assuming no Dodge)
55% on a 2D (assuming no Dodge)
23/35% for Vomit (Av8+/Av9+)

What would the Projectile Vomit success rate be on a 10+ AV player?

You need 10+ on 2D6, you can see from this table there's 6 results which are 10, 11 or 12

So 6 in 36, or 1 in 6

I've ignored Really Stupid, and the 2+ to avoid hitting yourself

If you want to include the 2+ 2+ first, then it's

(5/6)*(5/6) = 69.4% chance of getting vomit on the opponent

then the 6/36 = 16.6% of breaking armour

Overall its 16.6% * 69.4% = 11.5%

Put another way: (6/36)*(5/6)*(5/6) = 150/1296, which reduces to 25/216

Why?
If a player on the active team Falls Over during their own activation.
-> Turnover

Vomit doesnt make you fall down, you're not Knocked Down - instead if it breaks armour, you're placed Prone and then roll injury

A "perfect" use of Projectile Vomit occurred in a recent game of mine. My opponent pushed my ball-carrying Ghoul next to his Troll, then Vomited on the Troll, breaking the Ghoul Armour, and popping the ball loose.

I remember once using a Troll to blitz a ball-carrying Snotling and Vomiting on it. It failed, but the odds were good (because of the low Snotling Armour). One advantage of this manoeuvre was that the Snotling could not use Side Step.

A routine use of Vomit is to use it when marking (basing) a low Armour opponent (because the chances of it going wrong are much lower than the chances of causing a Turnover from the block).

Hope that helps.
