Hello,
I noticed that time keeping and time-outs are a source for lively discussions and I also heard there are ideas to change the current functionality of the client when it comes to time.... but I did not find the related posts.
If there is such a post, please help me out with a link. If not I would be happy to discuss your ideas here.
While I think the current 4min per turn are not too bad, I have the feeling that the manual time-out leads to bad feelings more often than it helps. While it is totally according to the rules to time out, and even more so if you are polite and tell your opponent upfront... Anyways I guess you all know what I mean and you all encountered cases... But some Kind of timekeeping need to be in place to limit game time.
Taking into consideration that different turns take more or less time while the overall, regular game time should not exceed 2h too much (including selection of inducements, set up etc.), I think a fixed time per turn of e.g. 3min and a time per half which can be used as needed of let's say 8min per coach could work. In this case no manual time-out is needed. If the variable time is used up your turn ends after 3min (as it would do today after a time-out)
What is your oppinion? Is there a need to change something and how could / should it work? |

This is my favourite MattDakka post ever. Clear, concise and uncontroversial.
4 minutes is too long on a platform that does all overseeing of rule interactions. I rarely take 2 minutes per turn but then that might be the major contribution to my poor record... |

Blood Bowl is not Blitz Chess.
You know what time you decide / need to dedicate to a game before starting it and that's not the case for many other hobbies.
Plus, some coaches play for the interaction with others. They chit-chat, they learn other cultures and such by meeting guys from all over the wolrd through Fumbbl. And the clock then becomes secondary.
subsidiary question : how do you handle "Brb, door's bell / baby woke up / doggy threw up on the carpet / etc etc. It's in the 8 minutes "flexible time" ? |
