E.L.F. has been gone for nearly two years. A possibly ill-advised comment by a coach in a game I was watching about missing E.L.F. and it occurred to me that I too missed E.L.F.! I'd never completed a cycle or even had a team finish above the froth of unwashed masses... but I found it interesting. I don't have a tenth of the personality of the folks that hosted it, but I have a bot who commands an army of gremlins that can at least keep score and tell me who won!

For that reason, I'd like to take a stab at:

I realize there was some discussion of coming up with a new scoring mechanism to change the potentially broken incentive system, but I'm boring and don't want to wait while hashing all that out. To start out, we'll just using the scoring system the way it was. We'll toss Khorne into Category B with the other Chaos teams. Black Orcs and Imperial Nobility we'll toss in Category E with Lizards and the other human teams.

But I'm also lazy and want to let computers do all the work. With that in mind, I've reworked the awards without the seasons included in the graphics.
Image for example. I'm still working up the final season report too. Before anyone asks, I don't have a good way to differentiate between teams in Strict mode vs Open or Mixed... At least starting out, there won't be any special designation for Box winners or League winners. (But given my affection for Secret League, I may try to find a way to integrate the Secret League Open environment into E.L.F. after things are running smoothly.)

Oh, the seasons are fixed too... with the first starting on September 1st and ending at the end of the day on October 31st... using the server time stamped on the game report. The gremlins are already collecting information for the games from teams joined to the new E.L.F. group, and the little gremlin which watches the game only tallies games once it knows to be looking for them... any past games are... well past. And I've taught that little gremlin to update a location in the cloud, so there won't be PMs coming out super regularly... probably just at the end of each season... but the score cards will be updated at least every day.

And seasons will roll-over automatically... and always be two months long. (I don't want to have to retrain the gremlins you see.)

Anyway, I mention all this because I'm hoping to pick up with Season 76 on Thursday, 1 September. In the meantime, I'm letting the gremlin collect games for a fake season 75, which I'll purge from the page after 76 starts. (What the gremlin has out there now is just testing to make certain it knows how to add, subtract, and multiply correctly...)

Anyway, I'll write up a proper season starter in a little over a week. I wanted to put this in front of folks to gauge interest.

Small update: The new E.L.F. II group is in place, and it is accepting teams. Teams still need to be manually accepted, and may take a day before they're completely recognized.

The TEST SEASON automated score card is in place with a link at the bottom of the main page and should automagically update every eight hours. I'll work on the end of season report, but the first new REAL season won't end until Halloween.

You could create a new STARTING TV elf team or four, and enter.

And all the elf teams in the Box Trophy are also more than welcome. Come compete and see if you can earn the Red Badge of Courage!
