I've played several leagues over the years, and there's often that one guy who goes for fouls long past when it matters for the current game. This is usually exemplified by throwing a foul on turn 16, when it's literally the end of the game.
Obviously, having their player thrown out is not a penalty when the game's about to end. But on the flip side, there's not really much benefit to it - they can't get SPP from it, and even if they do manage to inflict an injury that causes a game miss (whether it includes a long-term stat loss or not), they're never going to be the beneficiary of that. Maybe they're fishing for kills, just for bragging material.
Obviously, this is completely legal within the rules of the game. But is it acceptable in the social side of the game? Would you re-invite someone who you knew would throw late-game fouls once they'd run out of SPP-earning actions?
(Obviously, new rules mean that Prayers to Nuffle gives the Fouling Frenzy event, which CAN result in SPP earns; that changes things.) |

Debate as old as BB. There's probably dozens of threads about it.
I foul on turn 16 if I feel like it, I laugh when people do it to me. Fouling is fun.
When people construct complex arguments against it, what I hear is "in turn 16 I should be allowed to set up and/or play in a way different from other turns, because my reasoning shames my opponent into not fouling"
Setting up 3 stand firms o side steps to prevent chainpushes? Boot.
Good player staying prone to avoid being blocked? Boot.
Juicy targets for Throne of Blood? Chance of a pitch clear? BOOT BOOT BOOT
They're just pixels anyway. Embrace the foul, mate! \o/ |

Will you play the team again? Say next season? Or in playoffs? Then yes, foul - you are helping out your future team.
Do you need to help their future opponents get wins in order for them to get less points so you can get into the playoffs or to keep them out of the playoffs? Then yes, foul - you are improving your league rank.
Do you need to have the reputation of ruthless fouling to scare your future opponents into not risking their best players so that you can win the game? Then yes foul - you are improving your odds of winning the next game.
Are your opponents not bothered by fouls, and play the same regardless? Then yes, foul - your opponent doesn't care anyway.
Can you win the imaginary golden boot award? Then yes, foul - you can win bling!
Does your opponent have players that are good enough that they deserve your respect? That you want off the pitch? That you would blitz with mighty blow claw frenzy juggernaut tackle block if you could because they are WORTHY of that target being painted on their back? Then yes, foul - if you'd block with a legend who can't earn more skills, you should foul.
Has your opponent beaten you black and blue, and you feel like you weren't a challenge, so you have to do SOMETHING to make it worth their time, to put a challenge before them? Then yes foul - you respect your opponent.
Do all mens LOS spin their shirts like a roflcopter? Then yes, foul! |

Me not fouling on turn 16, means you don't have to protect your players on turn 15. I will not give you that advantage.
If I have a sneaky git, you're getting fouled every turn. If I don't, you're getting fouled every turn that I can set up a 6+ armor foul.
Alternatively, I won't foul, and you can't blitz. deal? |

Sometimes I don't foul on T16, like, if it's a bunch of rookies and I fail the pass.
Or, I had a one-turn shot and fell over or scored. Or just scored in general, often better to score than foul, like, to win and stuff, TD diff tiebreakers.
Or, you know, occasionally there's strategy where I need you to beat another opponent later in league play, and I've already put you out of contention.
But like, if you put enough stand firms on the line to stop me scoring, the best one's getting the boot. If your star blitzer sacks my last chance to score, he's getting hit and booted. I've killed some good players that way, and I'll kill your good players that way too. Go hide your best late in the game, if you don't want 'em fouled, stop trying to win, let me score, care for your pixels, it's good for my chances. |

a T16 Fouling Thread! What is old becomes new, what new becomes old. What we should really be talking about is how we can get Piling On back and how it MB and Claw should stack with it. |

So there is one benefit. If you received that half, fouling with one of your positionals could protect it from a blitz if they get sent off. |

Fouling is fun. Fouling on T16 when the match has already been decided should almost be compulsory. Have lost a few players; have claimed a few myself. We all know the odds and we still keep rolling.
Respect.
*if you didn't want your krox to get ST busted after dicing me why did you set him up on the los t16...? |

A. In a league you may play that team again in the regular season, playoffs or following season
B. By taking out a player late game you are lowering the other team's ability to fight for a play off spot which might help you get one of the limited play off spots
C. It punishes/disincentives coaches to do risky things that could win or tie them the game if they know I am going to block/foul/surf them turn 16 so instead they might just be a coward and let me get the win or tie rather than take the risk that could affect going forward
D. Fouling on turn 16 is funny |

As league options, hell yeah!
HELL YEAH!!!!
It would be the perfect Fumbbl anniversary present.
We had 4 dead in a game last night. Including a +ST player killed with piling on.
I knew there was a reason for carrying all those re-rolls. |

An Undead or Nurgle team could kill with a foul an opponent and get a free player.

I use the Black Box, so I don't need to invite opponents, but yes, I would do it. I could T16-foul one of his players to exact revenge next game.

There is another reason: the sheer fun of fouling for the sake of it, also, as other people said, there would be less risk in placing Side Step/Stand Firm/valuable players on LOS to prevent a 1TTD without T16 fouling. |

IMO it'd be rude NOT to foul on T16. Even worse if you didn't foul the 15 turns before. |
