Hello,

since the comments on Christer's Blog post Christer's Blog post somehow ran into the direction of changing the rating of FUMBBL tournaments, I wanted to move it to the forum. Just to distangle it a bit.

A short recap on the current situation and I hope I got that right:

3 star - Winning a FUMBBL Major tournament (incl. overall win BBT / IDT)
2 star - Winning a FUMBBL Majors qualifier
1 star - Winning a FUMBBL Minor (RRR, BRAWLS, XLF etc.) and winning a roster in BBT / IDT
coin - Winning an unofficial tournament / league

The question was if the current evaluation of tournaments is still valid (complaint was qualifier wins with few games vs. RRR) and if an additional differentiation in 'trophies' for IDT / BBT would be needed.

I found the comments on major qualifiers fitting - but more to make it harder to qualify for a major. With current setup in UI, I have had a walkover and a rookie coach, so basically 1 game to win a qualifier, which is far from the big achivement it was once.

I liked the suggestion of separate Trophy/Coin icons for IronDwarf/Black Box Trophy. They are not equivalent* and are worthy of a special commemorative pixel arrangement.

*I'd rate these achievements higher on a scale of 'clearly a class coach'

Agreed regard Majors, the Qualifiers are really varied in number (filler issue) and quality of matches. I'm not sure why it isn't a straight knockout competition, that could deliver a better experience, with coaches playing an equal number of matches of (on average) increasing difficulty.

I maintain that being the best [roster] coach in BBT or in IDT should be rewarded with TWO Gold Stars.

Or by a very distinctive reward (still to be invented, as stated in Christer's blog).

I can assure you that I won't make myself sweat again to be (and stay!) on the 3rd place with my Zons, if I eventually get the same reward that I can obtain after 4 wins in a RRR.
Same with my Humans (best Humans so far)

Without speaking of the double star I can get if I win this....

(my Zons on the top of the page)

Between those 2 kinds of achievement (IDT vs Ulthuan Qualifiers), which one is the most revelant and/or impressive?

Solid performances deserve proportional rewards.
Otherwise, what's the point?

I am not going to argue about the current situation. I guess there are / we're good reasons to implement it the way it is today.

Maybe it is not all like it was then. And I do not know what what it would mean to change something now. What would Happen to past achievements for instance?

One thing that caught my eyes was the situation of XLF. Once there was (according to the tournament page) a XLF major, which was replaced by the Steel Gauntlet.

According to the qualifier logic, winning a Majors qualifier is awarded with a 2-star. Today winning a XLF is rewarded a 1-star (which could be ok, because it is not a qualifier anymore), as does winning the roster in BBT. Is there any reason behind, I do not get?

Regarding the critical view on qualifiers which can be won with only very few games to be played, IDK If there is any easy solution which includes the achievements of previous tournaments and the current situation. Maybe changing the qualifier structure itself requireing a minimum number of games to be played for a win would be a better way than questioning the 2-star status.

To be fair I like the simple structure we have at the moment.

Edit: And I would really love to see that there are enough applications for majors and qualifiers, so that each of the 16 qualifiers currently in place for the majority of majors could be populated with 16 Teams each.
