Steel Gauntlet top coaches thus far
Hello!

We are just weeks away from the fifth Steel Gauntlet, a competition that really demands a lot in terms of dedication and skill for anyone to be able to enter, at least more than once!

For fun I made an arbitrary scoring system to find the most successful Gauntlet coach thus far, like this:

You multiply your score for each Gauntlet, possible scores are 1, 2, 3, 5, 9 and 17, depending on when you exited. This was just something I decided upon without too much time spent thinking about it. If you didn't qualify at all I decided that was going to be 50 points.

Without further ado, here is the top 20:

MartinSeptim 3 9 3 2 162
Elyod 1 9 9 9 729
Lautrehamon 9 5 5 5 1125
SideshowBob 5 9 9 9 3645
Tschirgant 50 2 50 1 5000
Doclystria 5 50 2 17 8500
Igralius 50 9 1 50 22500
Spelledaren 17 9 9 17 23409
Java 9 17 5 50 38250
Shook_one 50 17 9 5 38250
Happygrue 17 3 17 50 43350
Yuri_the_Scourge50 3 17 17 43350
Malmir 17 17 17 9 44217
Heymaiya 5 50 5 50 62500
Spence 9 17 9 50 68850
CandleJack 17 17 50 5 72250
Bazakastine 50 1 50 50 125000
Spinball 17 50 3 50 127500
The_Murker 17 9 17 50 130050
Jinamero82 9 50 50 9 202500

MartinSeptim keeps delivering at the top and is the Gauntlet Master, but has no win yet! Tschirgant missed out twice but went all the way to the final on two occassions. Lautrehamon and SideshowBob are very solid contenders, but always falling short of the top 4. Malmir is the lowest ranked player who has made it into every Gauntlet, because of only winning one game there so far! That still beats out Bazakastine in this ranking, simply because he wasn't in three of them!

After this little journey into fairly pointless numbers it will be fun to see who can make it into another Steel Gauntlet. Only six coaches have played every one so far, will that number shrink even further?

Keep having fun in the box!

Ugh that looks ugly when I dont use the coding....

Just for me to know. What was the reason to multiply here instead of a plain sum? While MartinSeptim will be leader in both rankings, the order in a sum will look very different. E.g., Elyod and Lautrehamon would swap palces and Tschirgant would drop from 5th down to 15th place while Malmir would be reported 6th place instead of 13th. Overall the sum would benefit those who participated in all four competitions so far (as long as you stick to the 50 points for not participating).

All I want to say there are quite a few parameters that influence this ranking and I would love to understand your thoughts better... If you like to explain.

But before this is misunderstood: Thanks for your effort and the explanations in the ranking. Allways nice to have something to read'. ;-)

Hey.

Well the multiplier makes the difference between being first and being knocked out in the first round much greater in the long run, and also penalises missing the tournament heavily. But dont think too much about it!

9+9+9+9 = 36 (6561)

1+3+17+17 = 38 (867)

A straight up addition would make the person who always won one game look better than the one who won the tournament once and made the semis too.

Three coaches who might enter the top 20 among the ones who look they might qualify for number 5 are Yudlugar, Beltroniko and proff70.

Well, by putting Shook on this list you have guaranteed I'm going to try for the gauntlet more regularly now. Made it both times I had a qualifying team :)
