BBT12 - Gobes Performance

15 Dwarf Games.

I'm back, after last months disappointing and tilting Dark Elf run. I decided to run this one a bit different. Instead of logging in my thoughts directly after a game, I would do it at the end of the run. Let's see how I performed.

W/D/L Ratio: 5/4/6 - Solid ratio, was fairly even through-out. I felt I had won some games I didn't deserve to, but also lost games the same way so it all even'd out in the end.

First game of the run was versus Jogrenaught's Goblins. At first, I was a bit scared as I know goblins can do serious damage if the dice allows them. However, that was not the case in this game and I managed to barge my way to a solid 2-1 victory, with 16 spp to play with.

Not much to say about this one. Was a dull 1-1 with little CAS until the end where he managed three Badly Hurts on me. He got a good amount of pow dice which was probably a good factor on keeping it a draw!

Joost gave me the first lost of the run. I was excited to play vs his team as I felt I could CAS my way to victory, however it was actually HIM who managed to give me a headache by killing a dwarf and giving another one a niggle. I did manage two of my own, but it didn't not make the difference in this game as my drive was up first, and he killed the dwarf on his first block (the classic) meaning I was climbing a mountain from T2 onwards, which versus elves can be difficult.

Another draw! But I was able to kill and SI two of his players so in my head I at least was able to progress the team with SSP regardless of scoring. At this point, I was worried I was going to fall into the same trap where I can only beat "stunty" teams. I needed a W to boost my confidence badly.

Ask and you shall receive - Nuffle, probably. The next game was versus zons. A very one-sided game and IMO an uneven matchup as I had a few guard and a MB at this point on the table. The game wasn't filled with much CAS other than a death and a SI, but I did manage to KO quite a bit of the zons. A solid victory that felt handed to me by the game, but we take those.

Another draw, not much that I remember from this one.

Game 7 - https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=4577317 vs Black Orcs

A bit of a turning point here headspace wise. I lost 2-1 and suffered from a bit of tilt. Only positive was I was able to roll my runner into MA+ now.

Game 8 - https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=4577511 vs Khermi

Spinball's Khermi made my headspin(no ball) facing ST5 players as dwarfs is my biggest bane currently cause even guard can't stop them. I did manage to pull out some voodoo magic and score from a wild -2D block (which this game, almost every -2D uphill was successful) but spinball was able to steal the ball on my drive and claim victory. Later that day, I spun into BBT again but with my human squad and ran into spinball with this team again!

Whenever things look down, I can always rely on zons to cheer me up. This game wasn't filled with CAS, but KO's! 7 of them to be exact, the zon coach got diced and I take what felt another easy victory from nuffle.

Game 10 - https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=4578092 vs Humans

This game was a weird one, I win 2-1 which felt fair but my opponent made the very odd choice of scoring within 2 turns in the first half, which allowed me to get the classic win. Other than that, it was a fairly normal game. Two wins in a row! Am I on fire!

I meet with Jogrenaught again, but this team with more even teams. However, I end up tilting as I fail a couple of 2D Blocks. You can read what he said in his match report, explains it well. It felt even all game, I took a days break after this one.

Game 12 - https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=4578677 vs Undead

After a days break I was ready to play again but sadly lose out on this one. I got a bit tilted at the end since I felt I played really well but just got unlucky. Not the best way to start a morning!

I spin later that day and meet up with the same opponent! However, unlike spinball, it was a different undead team (however very identical and similar team name) This time, I knew I needed to get revenge, and locked in. I score on my drive, and nuffle was favoring me enough to allow my opponent to fail a pick-up at the end of the pitch, bouncing the ball directly near my dwarfs ready to pounce (it did take a 3+ dodge if I remember) I was able to make it 2-0 by Half 2 T3. I felt very good at this point. He scores a few turns later and tried to go for the 2-2 but it didn't work and I managed to give a mummy a head injury!

At this point, I wanted to have some "fun" and meme a bit. I bought a deathroller for this game just to play around with it but I didn't enjoy him. I was able to understand his role in the team but luckily I played vs Khermi and was able to use the rollers high ST to distract a few TG's. I managed to kill and SI a TG which both failed their regen! My opponent was able to strike back and get the 1-1.

Game 15 - https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=4578940 vs Chaos Chosen

I end up facing the man who created our post-game stats as my last match. He played really well. Got a bit annoying! Wasn't able to find the right space to get the 1-1 draw or stop his drive. Failed a bit of rolls too which didn't help but as it was my last game I didn't mind too much.

End of Run Thoughts

I think this run was decent for someone on my skill level. I think the team (dwarfs) probably played a huge factor in helping me win with the Guard/Block combo. I'm not sure which team to take next. I have been enjoying Norse a lot lately but I want to try a team that doesn't have mass-block first just so I can test how I really react to failed blocks such as Both down x2 or both down/skull. I do have a Nurgle team that's sitting in the same squad that I can use. If I do use a team outside this squad I don't think I will make a new squad for them, just use it as a C team. I'm open to any suggestions on teams. Also do you guys think its better to write down post-match thoughts directly aftergames or after the entire run? I did forget some moments in some games for sure due to it but I feel it was less tilting having to write post-match comments after a tilting game haha. Thanks for reading the blog.
