Don't look now, but I think I may be improving as a coach
***First things first, enormous shout-outs to the NCBB league as a whole for being a super fun and supportive environment for play, and to HyperboLemuR for providing the amazing website for me to go look at these stats.***

The Colorado School of Mines Orediggers are my Chaos Dwarf team in the NCBB (https://fumbbl.com/p/team?id=1131677). Our first season (league season 43) we went 1W/3D/6L and boy was it ugly. -10 in casualties, which was 11th worst out of 55 teams and only surpassed by much more agility inclined teams. -11 in TDs, tied for bottom of the league, with only 6 scores across 10 games. I think we got some rough dice to contribute to that cas number, but the vast majority of the issue was my piloting of the team. After getting some advice from other coaches in the league, we wiped the blood off our noses and buckled up for another season.

We just finished our second season, and we tripled our win number with a record of 3/3/4. We were +23 in casualties, good for 1st in the league at the time of writing although some teams have games left to play. I have no evidence for this, but I will be claiming a +33 swing in cas delta as one of the biggest season-to-season swings in league history until I am told otherwise. Some positive dice regression and some more developed players certainly helped, but just as I was the biggest problem last season I think my improvement as a coach (mostly just doing less stupid stuff) was probably the biggest difference from last season to this one. We also improved our TD delta to a -2 and nearly doubled our TDs scored per game from 0.6 to a resounding 1.0!

The really exciting thing is 3 of our 4 losses came at the hands of the top 3 teams in the league (at the time of writing). We lost these games by a combined score of 1-7, so against all other opponents we were 3/3/1 with a total TD count of 9-5 (we actually did quite well in those 3 games casualty-wise, but it's my blog so I will cherry-pick whatever stats I want).

All that to say that I am quite proud of myself because I think I am less bad at this game now. I wrote this mostly for myself, but to anybody reading it I hope it provides you with as much distraction from your work-day as writing it has provided me from mine today. And to the rest of the NCBB, the Orediggers will be hunting a bowl next season!
