are numbers dropping significantly? i'm not around much so i only notice my old buddies and when they're on.
Is there a direct correlation between piling on and the decrease in players? i took a quick look at games played stats and "last 30 months" seems relatively steady. "last 30 weeks" does show a downturn. Has piling on become more frequent or was it changed 30 weeks ago? i'm genuinely asking btw... like i said i'm hardly ever here.
is there anything else that might have caused the decline? is it definitely not just part of the normal ebb and flow of the site?
personally i don't like the piling on rule much either and never had. its always been too op or too useless to pick. if i was the bbrc i would have dropped it years ago. but of course that's just my opinion. i agree that its not fun.
a big part of the problem is, once again, that the rules are not designed for long term use like fumbbl. normal leagues usually don't see the numbers of clawpombers we do. unless things have changed massively i know Christer has always said the site will stick to the rules as much as possible so i wouldn't expect to see a change.
Are there no "no piling on allowed" league groups since everyone apparently hates it so much?

What's wrong with CARP?
One of the nicest fish going.

rated 6 for a good ole fashion CRP rant.

FUMBBL/Statistics/Coaches doesn't seem to support the idea that we are losing people in droves, if at all...

Doesn't Koadah's League us a PO house rule? I'm sure there's good gaming to be had there. PO may be killing blackbox, but it doesn't have much of an effect on the Ranked division.
The biggest cause of lost gamers I think is down to the amount and diversity of online gaming available and the anti-social staff, who'll ban you if you so much as look at them funny!
There's lots of things, I believe would cause an influx of interest again. The first would be looking into allowing customised icons and pitches.

It's the summer. It always slows down in the summer.
In the quarterly view, things are looking up. If the current trend continues into the winter, then start to look at it. :)
Posted by koadah on 2013-08-21 19:23:19
Actually, I think a lot of people have just been away for the holidays or exhausted from looking after the kids all day. ;)
I only run the house rules on some events. Personally I think they make the game better but for the most part [L]eague division games don't necessarily need them. They are just more fun. Unless you think killing is more fun. Then they are less fun. ;)
Generally I think [L]eague is more fun due to playing a lot of games vs buddies or rivals rather than yet another unknown coach who might not be your cup of tea.
I'd say that CRP does have an effect on ranked as I'd guess it is harder to find a 'proper' game. Whereas in the Box some races are pretty scarce and some builds are too popular.

We had a peak around jan/feb 2013, lets hope the drop from there will soon stabilize. We're still have a lot more games than 1 year ago.

i always love reading the "I hate the way things are, therefore the site is going to crap!" viewpoint...

You see a decline only in the games/week plot for 30 weeks. If you take the monthly or the quarterly view you don't see it anymore. What you can see in the monthly view though is that August/September have been the weakest months each year for the last three years. Of these three years' Augusts, this August is the strongest.
I am not worried.

He plays in ranked where every one picks to hard that's why he finds it hard to get games
Posted by PainState on 2013-08-21 22:26:25
Who plays in Ranked? Fangbanger?
I assure you sir his rage is directed mainly at the Box since the majority of his matches are in the box as of late.
And if he did pick in Ranked he would probally play against a team of PO to reinforce his rage and bolster his thoughts on the subject. :}

Why'd you quit the league you were in that maybe has one ClawPOMBer in the entire league, then?!?
... oh yeah, I forgot that Christer had personally rigged the RNG to make YOUR dice suck... carry on with the quitting.

Not true, I have till this last week been In five leagues, I play about an average of 20 percent ranked, and 40 percent league and 40 percent box, with several of the league finishing and some just starting, I'm finding about 50percent box,25 percent league and 25 percent ranked, I just cleaned out over15 people that used to be here all the time that haven't been on for at least 6 months, the number of coachs that are on ranked and box has defintly gone down, I'm one of those guys that plays at least once a day, and europe hasn't been on vaction(and who wouldn't play on fumbbl during their vacation, its not like you have to be anywhere?) over here in the states the normal vacation is a week, but anyways the box isn't getting as many matches, and I don't need to see statistics to know this I come home from work and can put into the box every 15 minutes in the box and not get a match for over an hour and some times its closer to two(that very rarely happened before) at the same time were there used to be over 12-15 coachs in ranked I'm seeing 6-8 at the mostand that's not ever day and also that's 5-6:00 pst which means its only 8-9:00 est. Lie to yourself, or pull statistics out of a top hat, I'm seeing it, and pain your on here a lot too, you honestly don't see it?

It's 2013. Who today still doesn't understand the box is for cpomb?

I rated this post a 6 because it got PaulHicks to post.
Posted by PainState on 2013-08-22 00:16:23
Fang I don't see it...not saying it is not happening or is happening.
My work schedule is insane in the summer so Iam averaging maybe 2-3 games in open play right now. I have very little league action, which is on purpose.
So Iam not a good coach to comment one way or the other.

It is funny that there is a dip in 09. I know Fumbbl wasn't yet updated to LRB5, and that may be the reason and timing of the dip down. Who cares about the lower numbers. It just means more chances to play Fangbangers crappy Orcs in Box! Can I get a hell yeah for free wins? :D

By the way, I bought the Cyanide version, and I hated it. All sorts of shiny bells and whistles, but no fun.

err, no we're not
look at the stats page
Posted by koadah on 2013-08-22 09:49:05
What time are you talking about Fangbanger? Is it 02:00-0300 bbtime? If so then you are lucky that you had it so good for so long. That has been a problem timezone for a long time.

"It is funny that there is a dip in 09."
Christer moved, and there was a major down time.
