Dropping out while losing
I find it really annoying when people quit playing when things do not go to their way in the game. I have now played some 200 games in fumbbl and already had more than 10 games where my opponent quits playing, drops from the line etc. Never coming back, of course.
IMO if you don't want to go on, concede. I don't want to hear some lame excuses later, like: "my father wanted me to go to shop for him" or "I went for a cigarette and when I came back my internet was broken".

Rated 1. Yes this is frustrating..... but there are rules that cover this adequately. I have only had 1 drop out - I reported it and the admins investigated and took action.

That is strange. ?I have played around 700 games and that and it have only experienced it 3 times. Never on the new client.

Be sure to follow the correct procedure.

In the nearly 3 years I've been playing on fumbbl, the intentional disconnect/ disappear has only happened 2-3 times that I can recall.

Each time the admins very methodically followed the disconnect procedure and all worked out. One time my oppo even rejoined and we finished the match 2-3 days later as his problem was legitimate.

It's most troubling in the box, as while your team is on hiatus, all your box teams are as well, IIRC. Sucks, but worth the price to pay to stick it to the extraordinarily rare oppo who does it to avoid pixel-damage.

Now, 10 outta 200 (5%!) seems very high to me, but perhaps you are having unusually bad luck. Don't get discouraged! Learn to take pleasure in having the admins force thru a forfeit on the DC'ing bastiches.

That's strange. I've played over 2000 games here and had this happen maybe a couple of times. Could there have been other issues in the games you mention?

Anyway, be sure to follow the disconnect procedure in all cases.

In my thousand games this have never happened to me. However there have been times where I've sort of suspected that the other player isn't really playing the game anymore. Taking long turns and whatnot (though that was before the enforced turn limit. With the timeout button this is probably a lot less likely to happen now!)

On the other hand things rarely go so much in my way that people feel they have to disconnect. (though sometimes my teams are awesome too :)

I have only had this happen a couple of times in all my games here and in all those games there has been a reasonable explanation (bar one I think). The games have usually been finished within a couple of days.
From the other side I can also confirm strange reasons for disconnect DO happen. Recently my electric heater in the house semi exploded leaving me without power and water for a few days!
Anyway another tip nowadays is when something strange happens try to let your opponent know!
I used my cellphone to pm about the accident.

Well if all coaches push players that disconnect to finish their games, there isn't a problem, as they'll soon learn.

You do do this don't you?

Your proposal is against site rules.
Conceeding is only allowed from in game reasons. Out of game/ real life reasons need the game to the interrupted and a date for continuation needs to be fixed. Read the rules about the actual procedure.

Yeah, I should have not wrote this blog-entry when I was so annoyed. It just really pissed me off when I had only 1 active team and I wasn't able to play it while there was no contact to my oppo for hours. I know and abide the rules and I don't want to anybody else break those rules neither.
