I'm back (...?)
So, a friend, who works in social care, asks me: "thom, how can I help a bunch of my kids to spend their time better than sitting and drinking or staring at their phones all the time? How can I set them up for some bloodbowl?" Well, I was eager to help.

I had ran a bloodbowl league with friends years back (him and nearly a dozen others) using the then state-of-the-art java client, version 8.9. Actually, we kept playing even well past the "state-of-the-art" status, when the more Windows-fixated players were chuckling at the idea of using something so basic. But hey, it worked, and we had a ton of fun. I made a website with stats and all, it was a good time.

Naturally, that's where I started my research when the question was popped. I haven't played BB in like 6 years or so, so I needed to catch up with the latest developement. Turns out, the OLBBL is dead, the java client hasn't been upgraded since. But, yay!, I come across FUMBBL. It comes with a kinda built-in client (which I really think is some sort of fork or updated version of the old stand-alone), it has league and tournament structures, an active community (even with European players, so no timezone-hell).

So, I recommend to my friend: Get your kids to sign up here, and set up a league for them. All peachy.

It's not much of a surprise that he hasn't done so yet. He's a lovely but frazzled guy who works way too many hours. But all this re-sparked my own love for Bloodbowl, and I realized I used to have an account, way back when. So I had that reactivated, all smooth and flawless.

I will build a team in the days to come, and give it a whirl. I'd be surprised if good old Bloodbowl wouldn't make my blood boil again, much like it used to near 30 years ago.

Welcome back!

I would have thought that getting the kids onto table top first would be the way forward.
They could carry on drinking. ;)

Welcome back!
Since you are such a Blood Bowl lover, maybe you might be interested in Secret League not official races:

I'm surprised that koadah didn't advertise it on your blog. :P
