CDL Fluff

A new year was born in the darkness of the Chaos Wastes but with it came the excitement of a spectacle to be unleashed on the Old World. Sixteen coaches had scraped together enough gold to start their own franchises in the stinking bud of a new chaos league. It would be a draft league like no other. A draft league that would pull the brutal sports greatest talents from chaos worshiping mortals throughout the known world. Each of the coaches had signed leases with various venues, they had secured loans to pay a single season salary to their teams, and they had found a franchise player that would be the organizations face to be marketed to the public. These Coaches. These Franchises. These Players would be enshrined in the legend that would become the Chaos Draft League.

At first it was nothing more than the deranged fever dream of Coach Kondor. But when he learned that the Fallen Arena in Zanbaijin was abandoned he saw an opportunity. The facility was in decay, but the bleachers were sound. He paid the town mayor a pittance for the stadium deed and the deal was done. Next, he sent word to 15 other coaches and went to work looking for talent.

These are the stories of those coaches and the players they found. (Click player for bio)

--------
In Drakwald, Coach Wilson received Kondor’s invitation and leapt at the opportunity of a lifetime. He knew that the Count and Countess of Drakschloss Castle were Chaos worshippers. It was an open secret no one had ever exploited. But Wilson was never one to miss the opportunity. The Countess could not contain her joy at the prospect of chaos worshippers reveling in the splendour and the bloody sport in the courtyard of the castle. For his part, the Count introduced Wilson to a colleague who bred Tanzagors. The prize of the herd was one known as Syrax. It cost many bags of gold to pry the creature free from its owners but the Count did not seem to mind. It turned out to be a good investment. Syrax would come to be known as 'The Devastator' as he leads the Drakwald Dragons to victories on the cobblestoned castle pitch.

Information on joining CDL

League is running with 16 franchises. Dropouts happen, and we hope to expand the league. Therefore, we are always looking for coaches who would like to join the league. We are working with a waiting list in case a franchise will be on available. If you are interested, then get in contact with the staff.

Takeover procedure

- Full migration using custom rosters. Including SPPs, injuries. Fan factor remains the same. New owner inherits the draft rights.
- Team logos and stuff are inherited. Previous owner is kindly asked to provide the full code for the team bio. The new owner may adjust the bio. If the previous owner wishes a reference to the original designer of the team page will be added.
- The new coach taking over a team can retire any number of players.
- Once the new coach has essentially cloned the franchise, an administrater will add skills to the team.
- After the team is fully cloned and ready to play, the new coach will be able to fully participate in the league by drafting and trading player and playing matches.

Chaos Draft League

CDL is a franchise based league based in the Old World. As the Chaos tribes thrive in the Northern Wastes, many teams hail from that region. However, as everyone knows, the taint of Chaos has extended tentacles to the Southern most regions of the Empire. For the sake of Blood Bowl and all things under Nuffle with a wink and a nod, these teams play in smaller stadiums from marshes of the Reikland, to battlefields of Sylvania, and from forests of Bretonia, to shores of Tilea and all the way up to fjords of Kislev.

The league will begin with 16 franchise for season 1. All cities across the world put in applications to house one of the 16 franchises.

One by one the founding owners will select their home base and the CDL is born. Each team was named after the City/Province they settled in along with a nickname.

Time to time a franchise might be on sale. In such cases we rely on our waiting list. Please see the "Joining CDL" section for more information.

Rules

CDL matches are played under bb20 and fumbbl tournament rules - no game options take place with the following exceptions/additions:
  • The standard rules for inducements are not used. Instead the following rules apply:
  • Inducements:
You will receive half of the regular value of inducements, rounded down. For example, 210K difference would receive 105k.
Mercenaries are 50k each, regardless of position. They can not add extra skills. No star players.
  • If your TV is 1250 or above when you are ready to ready, you must fire your apo and then ready your team. If you forget to fire the apo, your TV will be 50K higher than necessary, and your opponent will get an advantage for inducements. This applies ALL season, including playoffs.
  • CDL TV does not consider the base cost of players.
  • For a win you get 2 points, for a draw you get 1 point, and 0 points for losses. For infractions like concessions and no shows you get +1 point for draft consideration.
  • During play offs there will be sudden death overtime, this is of course the Chaos League. The league is favored of Nuffle.
  • All games are played with a spiked ball.
  • Sneaky Gits may move after fouling.
  • Rolling 10 days to complete a round (For Playoffs, the rounds are shortened to 8 days). As soon as the round finishes, there will be a new round with new deadline. (We are strict on all rules, emphasize this deadline. Dont expect extension, unless holiday was announced well in advance, was discussed and agreed to an alternate procedure.)
  • All MNG are eliminated in the offseason.
  • Coaches are expected to be able to play their games in european time zones.
  • Time Outs – Players are expected to play a reasonable paced match. Time outs are only allowed if your opponent has exceeded the 4 minute mark twice and you have warned your opponent twice that you will enforce the Time Out rule. However, real life takes priority and if the opponent communicates extenuating circumstances as to why turns are delayed, you are expected to endure slow play. A game, of 16 turns, should not take over 2 hours, apart from in exceptional circumstances (1 hour per coach), which includes any untimed phases of the game (e.g Kick off). If the opponent is too slow, then report it.
  • Breaking the rules, like concessions, egregious no shows may result in forfeiture of draft picks in the oncoming draft. Concession, repeated forfeit, or intentionally losing are valid reasons for a ban.
If you want to tank for next draft, then your best bet is to try scoring often, and collect SPPs, so play at least semi-competitively. You are, of course, allowed to put your reserve squad on the field...
  • If a player dies, or retired for any reason, then the team is allowed to buy a rookie replacement.
  • If a franchise player dies or has been retired, then the team gets a late 3rd round compensation draft pick in the next draft.
  • Potions, sponges, scrolls, snotling hunters, and any past, present and future site benefits in CDL in any way, shape or form, are not allowed.
  • The team with higher TV readies first.
  • Player trades are resolved at mid-season after round 7, and after the end of the season.
  • A trade is agreed once all parties agreed to it and a staff member is invited and sees the agreements. A trade is official once a trade staff member gives it a thumbs up. If a trade staff member sees the trade as lopsided, then will escalate for discussion. The objective of that is not to overturn the trade but to make sure both parties understand the consequences.
It is not allowed to give away items for free.
  • To cancel a trade outside of voids requires both coaches agreement if a player isn't fired/permed/retired.
  • COMMUNICATION must be maintained with league officials and fellow coaches. If PMs are sent out from the league administrators, response and action is required.

Team Composition and Special Rules
  • 0-1 Big Guy
  • 0-4 Beastmen of which only 1 may be an Undivided Bestigor.
  • 0-4 Warriors
  • 0-16 Linemen (Marauders, Slaves, and Rotters count as linemen)
  • 0-1 Pixie
  • This is a link to the roster of players. https://fumbbl.com/p/race?id=6787
  • All Malal players have the "Missionary of Malal" trait. If they kill any opposing player, after the game is over roll 1 die to determine if the player is all dead or has been converted. On a roll of 1-3 the player is truly dead. On a roll of 4-6 the player may be added to your roster. It comes with all of the traits, skills, spp, and injureis that it had before conversion. However, once the player is added you may not have more player positionals than team composition allows. For example you may still only have 1 big guy on your team. You may fire other players from your team to make room for the new convert. The new player is a convert to your team and not a convert to Malal. For game purposes a converted pestigor is still a pestigor. It is not a Malalagor.

Free agency
  • If a team's TV (so MNG included) is below a threshold, then the team can select 1 player per round.
    - The Free Agents list is at the Warroom (google docs) sheet 'FA'.
    - The Free Agents list contains low profile players from college, and undrafted players from CDL drafts.
  • Threshold to pick a FA is a Team Value(TV) set prior to the start of the season. The TV will usually be 10k lower than the lowest TV team after all teams are readied to start the first game of the season.
  • Free Agent pickup is possible once after each round of the regular season, except after round 10 and round 17.
  • Free Agents come with SPP corresponding to their skill level.
  • Process of asking for a Free Agent:
    - Post at CDL discord server #FA-Free-Agent-picks channel.
    - A CDL staff member checks your team TV, and says you can or cannot select. (If your team TV is BELOW the threshold, then he will give you green light.).
    - You browse through the list of FA sheet, picking someone that was not picked before.
    - A CDL staff member deletes/crosses the player that you pick, so no-one else can select.
    - You create the player, and write the details into his bio. Acquisition type is Free Agent.
    - Note: You can pick a FA before skilling guys.
