Good Evening and welcome folks to the inaugural episode of White Isle Weekly, with your host, me, Des Lineman.
Brought to you by Scry TV(tm) we aim to bring you the best (and worst) of the weeks action in the Premier league.

Interviews

We thought we would begin with some interviews for what could be this weeks most interesting game.
Pinky Demon, Wight and Safety for the team Doomed from the Start.
Des Lineman: Pinky, your thoughts on promotion? Surely the league is looking tough from your perspective?
Pinky: We're really happy to have gone up, obviously, but yeah, the Premier Division is looking really tough. The established sides are really well drilled by now and there's a lot of 'fast food' to deal with (team nickname for agile teams), so the lads have to shape up quick. We'd love to cause a few upsets and make a general nuisance of ourselves, though!
Des Lineman: A game against the Queens Own? Big Game! How do you and the lads plan to deal with the famed Dwarven Armour, the odd boot or some werewolf therapy?
Pinky: Huge game! A clash of last season's conference champions, and really, they are in the same situation as us. Underdogs in the league, and the pressure is really on for this game now that the other promoted side, Rickson, got a result last night. This might be our only evenly matched game of the season, so it's vital we do well, and get off to a good start. I feel confident that when coach Purplegoo wakes up from his latest Moonshine binge he'll put together an amazing tactical masterpiece for us. Which would be a first. Actually, we'll probably just panic, then cheat like always!
Des Lineman: How do you respond to some people saying your teams coffers are looking decidedly empty? Can a successful season in the top flight establish your team as major players this time out?
Pinky: All baseless speculation, Des. The new Halfling owner, Rollspam Ahamsandvich, reckons that he's loaded and if we prove ourselves there will be plenty of gold for new players later in the season. Personally I reckon it will go on the pre-match buffet, I mean, what's wrong with protein Mindshakes and toast? Weird little fellow if you ask me. The longer we can stick around up here, the better we'll get, so I guess that survival this first season is all important.
Des Lineman: Do Doomed from the Start have any special plays youd care to share? Any Cunning Plans(tm) in store?
Pinky: We tried team strategy meetings last season to come up with some special plays, but Coach got fed-up of the Zombie guys just walking into the walls, mumbling about brains and generally not paying attention, so we scrapped them. Really, I think we're going to work to our usual tactic of getting stuck in, doing stupid things (team nickname - 'the missclick') and hoping that Nuffle helps us out. Coach Purplegoo always screams at us from the sidelines, "Get those Wolves involved! What am I paying you for, hanging back there?!" We haven't managed to develop a long-term Wolf strategy, as coincidentally, usually after the order to get involved, they go 'crunch' rather swiftly. Hang on.....
Des Lineman: Finally, any message for Coach TopHat and his team?
Pinky: Yuck. I hate Dorfs. We did a real number on the last lot that we faced. I hope that we give you a right old kicking this Thursday at 8pm GMT. Infact, I'm off to sharpen some claws right now.... Once we get through that armour, you're all pink and squishy - like anyone else!
Des Lineman:Thanks for your time Pinky, I for one am rooting for you, and I think most of the locals wouldn’t mind seeing some four foot body bags either!
Pinky: Cheers Des!
Des Lineman:Should be a great match folks, now to get some reaction from Coach TopHat,
as coach of a dwarf team, probably the most unpopular man in the league!
Des Lineman: TopHat, how do you react to suggestions that dwarves play boring bloodbowl?
TopHat: Dwarfs dont play boring bloodbowl, thats elves your thinking about, always pouncing around and throwing the ball all over the place , never getting into a good tough bashfest, If you want to watch a bunch of fairys prancing around in tights you go to the Ballet not the Bloodbowl.
Bloodbowls about Blood and Bowls, Bloods for playing in, bowls for carrying yer teeth home in .
We play for our fans and her holy majesty the Queen, they demand damage and they demand results . You have to play to your strengths and that’s what we intend to do .
Des Lineman: What are your hopes for this season, and should we look out for a particular player on the field on thursday?
TopHat: The way us Dwarfs play is with an all for one and one for all policy, the different clans are all represented and although they have their different strengths everyone is part of the team , we don’t have any heroes as that’s not our way . Any of our players are just as likely as the next man to bash heads and not ask too many questions. This season we are playing with some teams that have had a bit more experience than our boys ...but the Queen wont take excuses so we intend to do what we did last time round and win the league ,maybe a tough task , but certainly not impossible at this stage .
Des Lineman: Everyone knows what a threat werewolves can be, any ideas on how your going to deal with their speedy brand of violence?
TopHat: Werewolves are worrying for their speed, they don’t really scare us anymore than your average elf would. We will try to snap um if they get close, but we're happy for them to run around like headless chickens otherwise.
Des Lineman: That’s about all we have time for, just a final thought, any statement you would care to make on behalf of your team before kickoff? A special mention perhaps?
TopHat: Id just like to thank her majesty the Queen for leaving me in charge of the Queens Own again this season , I hope not to disappoint her with my management of her team .
Des Lineman: Well, there you have it folks, should be a blinder, tune in on Thursday evening for some first rate smiting, and possibly a trip to the vets for a puppy or two!

Spotlight Section

As the second part of our show, what we like to call the Spotlight Section, we pick a player or team who has excelled in recent weeks, and we discuss their career to this date, kind of like 'This is your life' but with broken bones.
Up first is chief tactician and current leading Passer, human thrower Xan Petronas. Xan started out working in a bakery in Marienburg, a quiet little shop with not much custom, Xan and the other young workers amused themselves by playing a friendly game of bloodbowl out in the back alley. He was scouted by the forerunner to current coach, Gidbinn Hesslinger and signed a 3 year deal
with local team Marienburg Athletic. He now provides the exciting passing plays that the crowds in Marienburg love to see.
When asked what the season holds for his team he replied, "Trophies of course, zats what ze fans vont!"
"Zis season vee are decicating our title challenge to ze memory of our fallen comerade Voldo Mortissen, zer are no failed Go For Its where you are now my friend...."
The new season should be an interesting affair, the team looks lean and balanced and the opposition looks tough, Xans greatest performance came against Clan McFeegle where he made three completions and achieved the Most Valuable Player award. Something he remembers fondly to this day. "Ja, ze ratmen play a fine game of bloodbowl, very fast indeed. It was a game I shall treasure."
Critics argue that playing Kicker and Thrower for the Athletic is limiting his scope, but coach Furious George defends his decision to allow Xan to diversify, “he’s a great talent and he can handle it. You’ll see.”
That’s all we have for you this week folks. Next week the spotlight turns to perennial favourites Irn Bru Reanimator, and head coach Jock McRowdy gives us his views on why everyone will be surprised come round 7!

Full Time Roundup

Part three, our match reviews is a new feature. Bloodbowl is fast, furious and always exciting and whilst I will post my views, ill leave it to the coaches to explain it best, whichever way the games go, you can bet the coaches will have different opinions. It’s a funny old game...
Shadow’s Minions 0 vs 2 Rickson by Armbar
Des Lineman: I watched this one myself viewers and it was a tussle to say the least, both teams had no problem with putting the boot in throughout, and the referee had to be sharp to stay ahead of it. A fine move and some good luck put the mixed martial art stars up at the break, and that’s where they stayed, thanks to some judicious fouling and some poor play from the Minions.
In the end the Minions were simply outpowered by a squad that wasn’t recovering from last games hostilities. Make no mistake though folks, PeteW is a wiley coach, and the Minions will be back and dangerous next game!
Furious George: Yes Des, this was a tasty one, I suspect a new grudge match just gave birth to itself tonight folks. Keep an eye on these two if they meet again!
Dominus Astrum 2 vs 1 Marienburg Athletic
Des Lineman: Another tough one here folks, Marienburg Athletic got pretty lucky this game, but still managed to throw it away with a poorly calculated last few minutes. Still, there were positive signs for both teams with important players developing well. We haven’t seen the best of either team yet this season.
Furious George: Gah, we was robbed! Well, in fairness we had every chance to put the game to bed but missed it in the last moments. It happens. Whats important now is making progress for next time. The biggest issue is a niggling injury to Xan Petronas, ordinarily at this point in a players career, we like to re-examine his future commitments, but for a player of Xan’s calibre, we feel he can still provide us with more than enough quality and performance. You haven’t seen the last of him, or the team this season.
Britnoth: (Britnoth was unable to comment, his prize skink suffered a niggling injury late on and he was clearly irate. Heading off down the touchline in a rage – described by the Marienburg fans as a ‘hissy fit’ he was heard to mention, “damned useless skink, talk about luck!”)
Doomed from the Start vs Queens Own
Des Lineman: Well, what to say about this one folks... Purplegoo's lads turned up fit for fighting the living, however on their way to the stadium, a cleverly arranged road accident between McHaggis's Pie cart and a similar shipment containing several barrels of Bugmans XXXX led to the Dwarves being inexplicably 'sidetracked' and therefore conspicuously absent at kickoff. Referee Waldo Smith was left with no choice but to forfeit the game in coach Purplegoo's favour.
Storm Warriors 1vs2 Irn Bru Reanimator
Des Lineman Goodness me folks, this was bloody on a whole new scale, 3 elves dead, 4 badly hurt and few left on the field by the end. This could scupper coach Pac's entire season...

Coaches Corner

This week, were going to be chatting to PeteW, commander-in-chief of the most successful rotters team this side of the chaos wastes.
Des Lineman: So PeteW, what makes your rotters such a tough team to beat? The last two seasons have seen you deal out some punishing defeats, the game versus the High Elves of rival coach Pac was one of the bloodiest the league has seen so far.
PeteW: Very kind of you to say so Des, but I fear the Minions' winning days are numbered. In the past we have had a strong agile team with more DP than others. A couple of claws added in made the team quite nasty.
Des Lineman: Lets not dance around the issue here PeteW, it seems you’ve garnered something of a reputation for dastardly tactics and a penchant for (as your players put it) putting the boot in. Care to comment?
PeteW: Hehehehe. With no apo's I face regular lossage of key players. I like to share my experiences :D.
Des Lineman: A tough first game vs some Orcs that in my estimation, got a little lucky at the end, is this set to damage your season, or is it early doors yet?
PeteW: We have had no bashers in the premiership. Imho, dorfs and orcs will scoop the prizes this season. My team? No good chance. Niggles on ageing and on pitch injuries last season scuppered my team's chances. With only one unniggled block player we don't have much chance!
Des Lineman: Ok, that’s nearly all we’ve got time for just now, but I leave you with one final question PeteW, if there was one player out there you worried about, who would it be, a werewolf perhaps?
PeteW: For sheer class, you can't beat Rtltk, of Dominus Astrum. A st- DP leader Saurus is pure genius! Should be an official star!
Des Lineman: I couldn’t agree more PeteW. Thanks for your time.
Ok, thanks to the audience, we will be back next week with the highs and lows of the greatest game in the known world. Nuffle be praised, Goodnight!
