This league's purpose is to introduce players to the Blood Bowl game by providing a structure that facilitates a gentle learning curve while encouraging the competitive spirit that makes matches exciting.
The league will consist of a round robin regular season followed by a championship playoff tournament. Only newly created teams may join the league, and each coach may enter only one team.
Special Rules:
(1) New league teams must be composed entirely of linemen. For each race, a lineman includes any player type whose allowed quantity is either 0-12 or 0-16. Thus beastmen, skeletons, zombies, thralls, halflings, etc. all count as linemen.
(2) For a non-lineman positional player to be added to the team (sometime after the first match is played), there must be at least 9 linemen on the team's roster.
There are two primary reasons for these rules. Since we're trying to encourage new players, forcing everyone to start their first match without advanced and/or scary positionals reduces the penalty for rookie mistakes. It also should reduce the casualty count early in the season, giving everyone a decent chance to build a solid, well-rounded team by playoff time.
Also, there's enough variety among many of the different kinds of linemen that coaches looking for a challenge or for something different can pick a team like halflings, goblins, lizard men, or ogres. This structure encourages interesting team-building strategies too. Do you load up on rerolls, save some of your initial cash for later player purchases, or maybe field a team of fewer than 11 players? There are lots of possibilities.
