Do you have what it takes to win the FUMBBL X-Cup II?
Allowed Teams: Any DivX division team. There are no team or coach rating requirements - although, of course, the competition will be strong!
Type: 16 eight-team "qualification" instant tournaments using the Swiss rules (a modified knockout system - for an explanation, see the bottom of the Tournament Structure page), followed by a 16-team normal knockout tournament with the winners of each qualifier. No non-tournament games between rounds of the qualification tourney or final knockout, but games are permitted in the time between the qualifiers and the final knockout.
Start: Qualifiers start as soon as eight teams are admitted to the group and an administrator sets it up. Come to the #xcup2 channel as soon as you apply, and an administrator will help you from there. The final knockout starts as soon as the 16 qualifiers are finished.
Prize: Each qualifier for the finals will be granted +1 to their Fan Factor (separate to the post-game result from their last qualifier game). The winner of the finals will receive an additional +1 to their FF, plus 100k gold, and will be given a chance to remove an injury of choice on the team (deaths are not eligible for removal). The final runner-up will receive 100k gold and +1 FF.
Rules:
The qualifiers are instant tournaments. This means that you have to commit to playing three games back-to-back-to-back, If you have to leave mid-game or are unable to play the second or third game, you will forfeit your game, and probably lose your chance to qualify.
Qualifiers are held according to the Swiss system, which awards 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. In the event of the 3-round tournament ending with two or more teams tied on points, the deadlock will be broken by comparing results according to these criteria, in order of preference: head to head results; touchdown difference; touchdowns scored; casualties caused; casualties suffered; d6 roll.
It is up to the coaches of the teams to schedule the game against their opponent. Overtime will not be enforced in the qualifiers, but will be enforced in the knockout finals. If a knockout game is still tied after the overtime period, a dieroll will be made (hidden). The remaining reroll count is not added to the rolls.
If you participate in a qualifier tournament and don't win it, you may apply for the next one. Losers of qualifier tournaments will be automatically kicked out of the group, so if you want to play in the next qualifier, simply re-apply for entry.
NOTE: Those teams which are listed in the group page with numbers after their names are winners of previous qualifier tournaments... don't worry, you won't play them in qualifiers.
