Welcome to the Gathering of the Brotherhood!

Pirates in one form or another have always traveled the high seas of the known world. As time passed the most successful members of the "Brotherhood" set up legitimate business concerns in the major ports of the known world. On of these legitimate business pursuits involves a series of smaller bloodbowl tournaments, with the Gathering being the highlight of the season.
The Brotherhood has invited 7's teams from throughout the known world to one of three regional locations. The winners will win regional bragging rights, a team trophy, and other prizes. The Brotherhood will gain a large influx of tourists and income for the local businesses. Those who arrive in their appointed location early (and play often) will find that the local shopkeepers, referees, and tournament officials will favor them, should they move on to the Main Stage of the tournament.

Rules
1. You must be a member of the Blood Bowl Sevens group before entering the gathering. Grandfathered teams will not be allowed.
2. All teams are subject to the rules on the BB7s group page unless those rules are specifically altered for this tournament.
3. When the gathering ends, all teams will be kicked from this page.
4. Coaches can have up to 3 teams entered in one division. Any further applications will be disregarded.
5.Drafting will be suspended during the gathering. Teams that are eliminated will have to immediately retire any players with 4+ MVPs after they are finished with the tournament.
6.The three divisions in this tournament will be geographically based. Join the division that best suits your general availability. The Newgate division will be based in the Americas, the Oldgate division will be based in Europe, and the Eastgate division will be for Asian and Australian players.
If you have any questions, please contact the

The Preperation Stage

Teams that enter the tournament will be placed into an open round robin preperation stage and are no longer available for friendlies/SMACKS.
The preparation stage lasts three weeks. During the first two weeks teams can apply and play games whenever they want. During the third week, more preparation games may be played, but no more teams applied (i.e. by that time it's clear which teams could enter the main stage). By this time it will also be determined if enough teams for the main stage are available in each division and more information on the main stage will be published. Each coach can only have one (1) team move on to the Main stage.
- There's no obligation to play all of your games within the preparation stage. However, there are a couple of benefits (always including the risk that something goes horribly wrong of course):
1. Drafting will be postponed during the preparation stage. If you get a lot of preparation games in, you can make your team a fair bit stronger than usually possible. However, teams that don't advance into the tournament stage will have to retire scouted players at the next possible occasion. Teams with pending retirements will not be allowed into any other tournaments, SMACKS or mini-leagues.
2. You have the chance to directly weaken your possible opponents. (Due to this, fouling might actually be more rewarding than usually!)
3. The team(s) with the most games played during the preparation stage will receive a significant advantage in the (first) draft of the main stage.
4. All teams that play at least a certain number of games get some benefits from their increasing knowledge on local economy, represented by specific inducements getting available for petty cash during the main stage.
5. You get to know your future opponents and their teams which can be useful for all kinds of social and fluff-related activities and give you an advantage if facing them again later.
6. Scoring for each match will follow the format at the bottom of this page.

The Main Stage

After the completion of the open round robin play in the Preperation Stage, the top teams (4 if there are 4 - 8 coaches, 8 if there are 9 or more) will advance to the Final Stage. The final stage will be a round robin tournament.
Scoring will follow the same format as for the preperation stage, though each team will have their scores reset for the final rounds.
Teams who play early and often in the Preperation Stage will be rewarded with certain advantages in the Final Stage. Details on these advantages will be given to those who earn them (and perhaps also through either a press release or through a "leak" in the ranks of the participating coaches).
