Well this was really an epic mismatch even with the Virus that took out my best players. Some 500 TR in my favour and 390 TS was the record high for the Falcons.
My opponent did left the wings open on defence (I had frenzy on two players) and I got an easy score, surviving a foul (just stun).
My opponent did not have a lot of fast ball handling and after he brought the ball and everybody forwards towards the line of scrimmage, It was a perfect fireball target and the wizard did his magic wonderfully. The cage of 5 was smashed, with 3 players including the ball carrier getting knocked over.
This allowed me to knock the ball free, send some players behind the Knights line and then throw the ball over their heads to the end zone for a player to pick up later.
My opponent said it was game over then and there and it was a good call.
The Falcons ran deep after the ball but left it on the ground as it was in lightning bolt range. They waited till they could safely pick up the ball and get back to the middle of the ground.
The Knights fouled and had their player sent off to give the Falcons a man up advantage..
The Knights were mostly still stranded near the line of scrimmage. They sent players back only to have their Bull Centaur pushed out of bounds. The Falcons kept delyaing scoring, and survived a fireball blast on 3 players before scoring on turn 8.
The Knights had a one turn offence but their hits and foul did not cause any damage.
In the second half, the Knights were receiving and they soon ended their turn when their Troll stuffed up the frenzy follow up block (had Buzzing I think).
The Falcons applied the pressure once more and knocked the ball free before once more throwing it deep and chasing after it.
There was a long struggle for the ball but the Falcons recovered it, surviving a few more fouls and caging it safely on turn 7. Turn 8 a snake eyes prevented a third TD.
-----------------
A very tough match for AFK. Playing up against a huge team that I am extremely familiar with so losing was no reflection of his coaching ability. ”
“We came...we saw...we became yet another statistical blip on the Falcons historical radar, not even worth a mention as any kind of competition. I slapped around a tough orc team and tougher dwarf team to get to this final, then got made to look like an absolute idiot and novice in the championship match. Losing ain't the worst part...it's the never even having a chance in hell that bugs me. Not once did I ever feel competitive this game. I ain't a bad coach, really I ain't (at least, I think of myself as such). But this game was simply the pathetic attempt of an imbecile against a grand master. Score 2-0, but it was never that close.
*sigh* My ego is bruised...I need a hug...”
