“Start the game with 11 healthy rats...after he gets a perfect defense to completely ruin our starting drive turn 1, our megastar SV is gangfouled MNG...by turn 3, 3 more rats are hurt, and he hasn't failed to knock over a player yet, blodge or not, despite not having a single tackle on the team. Situation looks pretty much hopeless, right? Esp when our sole hope, our team's only strip-ball rat, is killed late first half.
Enter the gutter.
Specifically, Xbow II. A little slower than your average gutter, he nevertheless showed a heart bigger than any rat ogre, as he literally single-handedly prevented the khemri from scoring via his blodge/ss/tackle/dt. Whereas the khemri never failed to get a POW to start the game, this little rat thereafter utterly refusted to go down, til way late second half after he'd stolen the ball and raced for the 2-0 lead. It was just that type of day for the little guy. Wasn't voted game MVP, but the rest of the team lifted him on our shoulders as we left the stadium en route to Nunchaku's funeral and taking Wakizashi to the hospital to get x-rays of his ribs.
Team victory #99...and the khemri were utterly shocked when we accepted their game invite. Maybe it was the way they mocked us, anticipating us saying no...maybe we saw zero tackle and decided to take a chance...maybe we're tired of people saying we built our winning record vs "soft" teams and never playing true bashers. (Note: our last 10 games, we've faced 2 chaos, undead, cd, orc, and khemri, while only one elf in that span...)
Finding a decent matchup for next match will be an exercise in patience...can't just accept the first offer to come along this time!”
