“The first FUMBBL game for Sotek's Sarawaks and their coach. We were lucky to have emerged from this friendly (but wet) match with all players intact, despite the Bombers fans intimidating the referee replacement and the Bombers players exploiting this to a certain degree. The opposing fans also cheered their team along quite admirably throughout the match, but their disappointment with the outcome of the game at full time was nevertheless evident.
Not that the Lizards were altogether innocent themselves: The Sarawaks' Stunty Skink Squad did try ganging up on the ogre On-Yerr all by their lonesomes, without as much as a Saurus to assist them. No casualties resulted from this, however, although the Sarawaks' skink shaman certainly justified his salary (an uncommon investment for a rookie Lizard team) when he saved Ssuarh the Saurus from being rather badly wounded by a terrific blow from said ogre On-Yerr midway in the first half.
This game was somewhat flawed by less than perfect kick-offs from both teams, but when Ssuarh received the last touchback after the Bombers' blitzer Harl Haffenbomb reduced the lead to 2-1, it was all he could do but to try and guard the ball to the Bombers endzone. Which he surprisingly managed, and the audience really took off at that point.
Sotek's Sarawaks salute their first opponents, the Bay View Bombers, and wish that they and their coach win their games, if the Old Ones will it.”
