“A clean match from the Vanguards' home stadium, but met with a downpour that lasted the duration. It threatened to change, but it stayed the same throughout...
This lead to several handling errors from both sides culminating in TRRs being sapped early on in the game. Facing up against an ogre and a blitzer with guard (mainly the guarding blitzer) appeared to be the undoing of the Vanguards today, with blocking results mainly in the favour of the sisterhood.
One inspired piece of courage from Henrik was almost good enough to stop a rush from the clergy, but the relentless drive earned them a TD late in the first half. One more turn may have earned the Vanguards an equalizer before the half with the ball deep in St Patrick's being driven by two of the hill men blitzers, but it wasn't to be.
The second half was almost a repeat of the first, but handling errors on two seperate occassions prevented a TD from the Vanguards. Rain preventing Henrik picking the ball up one turn, then rain preventing Sigurd from catching it the following turn.
The fans were right to be disappointed with this performance from the Vanguards, and rightly so some of them have handed back their ticket stubs and asked for a refund...”
“According to what the sisters reported in the locker room after the game, the rain was indeed responsible for the ball handling fumbles, but mostly because the Legion players were busy staring at the sister's soaking wet dresses.
However, this was a clean well-spirited game and it was a pleasure to play with NMcAndrew.
I'm available for a rematch anytime.”
