#9 Cripp Anvilson II – Broken Ribs (MNG) #9 Cripp Anvilson II – Smashed Knee (NI)
“Well we eventually got this played after AlcingRagaholic's impromptu long weekend holiday!... and it ended up a very close game, which I'm disappointed to lose!
With no significant difference between the teams, therefore no handicaps, the game got off to a start with the lizards winning the toss and receiving. The dwarves defended well, but with 3 sets of double skulls in the 1st half alone they needed their rerolls! Unfortunately the cost of defending so hard meant 3 players were out of the game - the apoth having failed to aid Cripp Anvilson II of a serious niggle, ultimately ending in a very early retirement in a short career (no pun intended!).
Lining up 8 dwarves vs a full 11 (despite some lizards also being put off the pitch), it was going to be tough to win... just needed some luck!
A glimmer of a chance appeared, with a dwarf or two in the end zone, and Pefil Buckethands in possession, being invited to lob the ball long with a Hail Mary pass... however, with a team reroll being used up to get a receiver in the lizard last third Pefil unfortunately rolled a 1 on the pass.
Sadly a little time later, despite at least a couple of half chances to recover the ball, a scaley skink scored. 0-1.
Battling to the end, the dwarves did not have the numbers, speed or time to equalise... and they did well to keep it to 0-1.
Thanks for the game... The Bullies now relinquish their crown to a new coach... Who will it be??”
