The always friendly and helpful Black Fury took it upon themselves to try to dispel that curse, and succeeded in transfering it to themselves instead, at least for the first half of the match...

It wasn't before the last turn of the half that the curse left the Black Fury as well, when they luckily scored the equalizing TD. In the second half the Black Fury got the ref, but superstitious as their players had become they didn't foul fearing that the curse might return, this might very well have helped them as their luck continued to get better throughout the half, enabling them to score twice more...
