“Junkyard Dogs Scrap Against Defending Champs

The new Kids on the block were really given a stern test today. And well... lo and behold they held together well. Up against the two time champs the Riftsedge Revenants the Bulldogs managed to guts out a 1-1 draw and drag themselves off the bottom of the ladder. Not too bad considering they started mid season. The Bulldogs were up against a fellow undead team... who's longserving necromancer coach.. a curious fellow named of all things "clayinfinity"... is he some sort of Gumby loving freak or what? was looking to improve apon their so far poor season against the CTL rookies. Proclaiming to be a St George Dragons fan.. this coach who at a recent tournament was dubbed a "cheat", was soon hiding in this dugout as the doggies fans bombarded him with beer bottles. Complaints soon followed as the barrage seemed to affect Clays decision making, with each and every move of his players reaching slower and slower proportions. Eventually the Revenants strolled over for a TD in around the 5th turn, potentially giving the Bulldogs a chance to strike back before the break. As the teams were setting up... a cry erupted from the opposing dugout.... as Clay.. sick of the fans taunts demanded play be called off till the next day so he could concentrate better. To the surprise of most... this demand was upheld (guess thats what happens when you are the 2 time champions).

The Game resumed the next day... and lets just say the Bulldogs ghoul contingent made it impossible to capitalise on any opportunites. Returning to their first game problem of the dropsies. 3 failed pickups later.. and it was halftime. Clay still recieving some bottle lovin from the Dogs fans.. and coaching incredibly slowly. Of most note for the dogs was the bit of hurt they layed onto the defending champs. Terry lamb recalling his 88 Grand final form and thinking the Strength 4 ghoul "Gespar Vallmira" was Ellery Hanley. While big Peter Tunks continues to shine, Seriously injuring his opposite "Lord of Darkness" only to see him regenerate and return for the second half.

The Second Half was... well Yawn City. Lets just say this game isnt Rugby League in the excitement stakes. The Bulldogs played an uncompromising game of Bash Bowl.... even when Clay feinted.. by opening up his backfield to allow the TD.. still the Bulldogs stalled. When questioned afterwards... Warren Ryan said " I know I said Id bring back the entertainers.. but who wants to watch a losing team.. no one thats who! you know how fickle Sydney crowds are. We need to get off the bottom of the ladder and build a good skillbase before we can play the game we want to play" and so the game finished as a 1-1 draw. With Daryl Halligan involved in a vicious crowd push of the Revenants first half ghoul scorer Ezekial Rezahn. As the crowd flung back the rekilled body... the "Bullfrog" wandered over and awakened the still corpse... Ezekial proceeding to rise, before ambling over to the Bulldogs dugout.. and taking the field for them late in the second half.

All in all a fine effort against a much more experienced outfit. All bodes well for a solid first half season... with a good training camp in the off season.. big things could happen as early as next season for the dogs. Good winnings yet again see's the purchase of a playing kit for another ghoul in the form of Hazem El "Magic" Masri.
