OMG had this report nearly finished.. when my Backspace key snagged and started deleting everything before I panicked and hit the wrong mouse button...aargh. Ok apologies Toonie for the bountiful messages you will recieve telling you of updated game comments but better safe than sorry.

Ok this ended up being quite a brutal game for me.. but it was also a game where my luck finally began to turn. By all means plenty went wrong for the "Echoes" but the majority of crucial little plays all came off for me.. and failed for poor Toonie. Talaban was an ironman today.. despite some doubts it should have gone to the more experienced Karesh Var. Started off well scoring in the second turn.. taking the correct handoff and passing options, rather than going for stupid completions with Karesh Var. At this early stage my drunken mind was on winning the game.. not chasing an elusive Twahnlow award.

Copped a pitch invasion which left me vulnerable in the backfield. Then the Casualties began to creep in... Anwar having his jaw broken by "Jani Magnusson".. while a few elves were sent to the KO box. With no rerolls left this looked to be a dangerous half.. particularly when I failed my first dodge of my next turn. The Asgardians drove up the field, while a bit of sportsmanship came in with Toonie chasing a spp spread by handing off with his Blodging Catcher to his less skilled Blitzer teammate. Talaban hauled himself from the ground.. having been stomped on by the crowd.. and blitzed the ball free. Before Karesh Var worked his customary magic... leaping to the ball and launching it upfield to the waiting arms of Touchstone.. flanked by two teamates and within TD range. Sadly Touchstone was unable to make his dodge... as the despairing tackle of "Vali Hokkenen" clipped his boot and sent him sprawling to the ground.

The "Echoes" players were then casually swatted aside, making room for the Agility 4 norse thrower "Tukko Rainnonen" to scoop up the ball and effortlessly send it to the waiting arms of the other agility 4 norseman (within range of the endzone).. the catcher " Lodi Torkonnen".. who casually caught the ball and sauntered over for the... but wait where is the ball? Why its casually fixed between the supple branches of the "Echoes" mighty treeman Ra-Hel. The big fella having plucked the pigskin from out of thin air and preventing a certain touchdown. Having taken root a few turns earlier, Ra-Hel's teamates rushed to assist him and position themselves for a handoff. Sadly they were unable to get into position.. but all cheered loudly as the big fella held off the Asgardians for two turns...taking the teams to half time. Of most note was the murderous glare across the pitch from the Minotaur "Deadly Taurus" as he eyed off his rival big guy. Sadly for Asgardian fans he got so worked up he went wild and wasted the teams remaining two blitzes.

The Second half began with just a little more confidence thanks to that miracle intercept, and all the "Echoes" KO'd players returned for another round. This hope quickly diminished as the Asgardians really started to lay in with both fist and boot. Bekar soon badly hurt, and Karesh Var on the recieving end of a fair bit of "boot love". Our rookie catcher Togen managed to seriously injure a norseman, sadly however he was on the recieving end the very next turn, when that very norseman.. a blitzer by the name of "Marti Makkinen", fresh from the Apothecary's scalpel, jumped up and concussed the poor Elf. (Not sure he will remember his first game too well). The "Echoes" KO box was filling up fast now, and when "Rainnonen" spied "Torkonnen" free with no branches hampering the balls flight, a connection was made and "Lodi" burst upfield with few standing elves near him.

Cometh the moment... cometh the man.. or in this case men. The "Echoes" 2 best players... Karesh Var and Talaban put leaping dodging runs together and combined to KO "Lodi", before Talaban recovered the pill. What followed over the next few turns I can scarce believe even now. With every other "Echoes" player besides these two elves and the Treeman Ra-Hel, consigned to the dugout in various forms of hurt... Talaban proceeded to run the ball from deep within his half. Assisted by his "Brother in Bowl" Karesh Var, he survived countless rerolled blocks. At each turns conclusion finding himself surrounded. Ra-Hel pulled off a key block.. freeing up some dodging room for his wardancer while the leaping "Var" continued to hold off the now desperate defenders. Ultimately for Toonie.. along with the 1st half intercept, this game will be remembered for the last ditch Blitz that resulted in two sets of doubleskulls. Talaban dodging away from his lone marker to seal the game at 2-0.

Another early block resulted in doubleskulls again for Toonie.. and there was almost the chance of a flattering 3-0 victory. It was not to be...but with much frustration did Toonie enter his last turn... fouling Veris and breaking his ribs (The useless "Echoes" Apothecary again failing to earn his money). Something that to his credit he has already apologised for.... however it is with great trepidation we look onto our next match against the conference high fliers "Horrors Heroes", with 3 players missing the game. Especially since the 60k Winnings are not enough to buy another player.

Bad luck Toons... Its the nature of the beast as well you know. I entered this game having been screwed over in all my more recent games by Nuffle, and hopefully have turned something of a corner. Heres hoping your corner is coming up.. and you can do as much damage to the rest of the conference as you did me.

Twahnlows:

3 Votes to #1 "Vali Hokkenen"- Was a nuisance with his Tackle and Shadowing skills. He saved a certain touchdown.

2 Votes to #12 "Lodi Torkonnen"- Mr all purpose for the Asgardians.. he can do it all. Was very involved in all aspects of the play, sent off in the last turn for a vicious foul on Veris.

1 Vote to #9 "Tukko Rainnonen"- A very good game from the Asgardian thrower. A great player to watch. Only recieves the 1 Twahnlow vote because he was sadly part of a couple of key mistakes that cost the norsemen the game. He threw the intercept pass, and despite an excellent dodging run it was he who failed the last gasp blitz on Talaban.. doubleskulling. Is going to push our own Karesh Var all the way for the Twahnlow passing awards.
