“Not quite as bloody game as one would have expected. The Imps were unlucky to lose two of their team midway through with serious injuries, but still managed to score the touchdown of the game, or even the season!
Daman Hilbauer, still struggling for form (being drafted into the team to replace your slain father is obviously not conducive to a level head), fumbled a quick pass to Ingemaar, and the ball ran loose in our backfield. Ard 2 Get tore in from the left flank with Gwar and they blitzed through to grab the ball. With the Razorwire Berserker team contiuing their planned push along the Girders' left side, three linemen, including the specialist shadower, John Skemp, dropped back to sack Ard and prevent the TD.
However, try as they might, over the next four turns, the Girder's backfield could not bring the Imps' number four down. Pushback after pushback on two dice each time saw Ard dodge and duck his way through the forest of beefy arms and legs. Like a bus full of cement, he crashed ever closer to the line; eventually crossing midway through the second half, shoving two Girders players out of the way and with Skemp hanging onto his leg! True Grit.
Special mention should also go to the injured Klaus Lindgren. Confined to the line of scrimmage by his dodgy knee, Lindgren found himself facing up to the massive bulk of Lord Borak the Despoiler. As if this wasn't enough, the freebooted Chaos hero was Buzzing on something dodgy. Lindgren found himself on the receiving end of some horrendous frenzied blocking early on, but picked himself up each time; never leaving the Despoiler's side and effectively marking him out of the game. As his confidence grew, Klaus was worked into a frenzy himself; abandoning all thoughts of self-preservation to go toe to toe with the eight-foot blocker. He had Borak on the deck during the second half and ended the game by shoving him back across the line with authority. What a man!
As far as the balling went; Easy Ryder literally threw the Imp's first TD opportunity away. Clean through with the backfield trailing, he rumbled to the line and then stopped, threw the ball at the endzone and watched it bounce around on the floor for a turnover and a quick recovery pass from Hilbauer. Apparently the hulking warrior had seen it done by the Imps' previous opponent and fancied a crack himself.
With the Imp himself dragged to the casualty bin after a hi-low takeout from Stormjaer and the rookie Fulgond, the Girders decided to abandon their plan A in the light of Hilbauer's wretched form and switched to a running game, hoping to exploit the numerical advantage. It worked well, with Ingemaar and Arneson doing their job (the former crossing for his 3rd TD in 2 games to add to the fans' feeling that he's the rookie to step into the spot of the late Cristen Solsker) and Thorsten Stongaard rounding off a strong game for the four Razorwire members.
Cheering his team on from the injured dugout, Christheimp was a great opponent; gracious in defeat and totally in the spirit of the game. A real pleasure to play against; the Girders would be honoured to host a return fixture whenever the Imps are in the area.”
