Punk's Not Dead got Ironman (which went to their DP), Smelling Salts and Extra Training (I think).
The Elves won the coin toss and scored in turn 3.
The Khemri began their drive knocking out a linelf, the DP BH'ed another (in fact, he would foul 6 times without being caught by the ref!), and Ramtut III picked up the ball. The Elves ran upfield to avoid the formation of a cage, and score a second TD with the help of our wizard. It would have been fairly easy, but the wizard rolled ones for Ramtut and a Mummy! :S
Soon afterwards, one of my blitzers got badly hurt by failing a dodge. Doh! My DP and a catcher were seriously injured a turn later, and despite putting a few TZ on Ramtut, he blitzed for the equaliser at half time.
With one turn left, I made a childish mistake and my star catcher was crowdpushed by Ramtut, but he was only knocked out. Phew!
The Elves began the second half with 9 players. Ramtut picked up the ball in his first attempt once again. The Elves tried to get between the mummies in the LoS and Ramtut and 2 skeletons. One of my throwers was knocked out in a failed dodge. I had one shot at Ramtut before the cage would be formed. My strip baller pushed him and the ball was free for a second... and then a skeleton caught it in the air. I was going to put some TZ on him, but my strip baller rolled snake eyes when doding and got knocked down.
I then tried to get to the skeleton, but thanks to the DP I was losing one player per turn (damn ref), until in turn 5 my guard elf blizted the skeleton kamikaze-like with 1bd (he had to enter a square with 3 TZ), knocking him out. The Khemri had 3 turns to pick up the ball and score the winning TD.
I had only 2 elves left and Ramtut picked up the ball in turn 7. He got close to the prone strip baller for a gang-foul. As a result of the foul, the catcher got niggled, so I used the apo. Next turn, the catcher blitzed with 3bd against, reroll, push, grabbed the ball and broke free with it.
It was turn 8 for Khemri and we were 1-1! The Blitz-ra knocked down the catcher, and the ball ended in the endzone. Ramtut tried to pick it up and win the game... but failed (no rerolls left). Before going to OT, however, my only remaining player, Keos, crowdpushed Ramtut, and he was BH by the fans, no regeneration!!!
The Khemri got the ball in OT, and got ready to massacre the last 4 elves. Unfortunately, they could not pick up the ball, which my blodge sidestepper did, eventually scoring the 2-1 against all odds.
The Khemri team still had 5 turns to make it 2-2 and try for the coin toss, but my elves somehow managed to retrieve the ball and scored the 3-1 instead.
A very tight game. I am pretty sure Farinroderel would have won if we had switched teams and he was only one roll (50%) away from victory. Then again, if the wizard had not failed we might have sealed the game earlier.
The DP really massacred us, and next round we will only have 10 available players. I also rolled a 1 in winnings. Even if we are eliminated, this game made the Warpstone Open worthwile for me. :)”
“Really curious game, thrilling, breathtaking and exciting, as only cup-games can be.
Defining moments:
Turn 15: 2 elves manage to turnover PND by stripping the ball from Ramtut wirth a 3 dice block against.
Turn 16: Ramtut fails to pick up the ball for a gamewinning touchdown (with RR even).
Turn: 16: 2 elves manage to crowdpush Ramtut with a 2 diceblock against and badly hurt him (regenration fails).
OT: 4 elves manage to overturn 11 khemri easily.
Committed a turn 24 foul, not out of malevolency, but just because Resistance is an artificial team (check out their match history).”
