#6 Frode Braaten – Smashed Knee (NI)
A terrifying game. The Girders found themselves up against a pack of baying goat-men, driven forward by their foul, armoured master.

The norsemen managed to tak the lead during the second half and held the ball back after the Idiots' equaliser to go into the break tied 1-1. The ruck was brutal during the first half, and despite putting the opposition's chaos warrior in the box midway through, the sun was glaring and the girders were losing men to both the hooves and the heat.

The second half was more balanced, but Insei broke away from the fighting to take a handoff and put the Idiots into the lead along the right flank. The game ended with only fourteen players available for the last drive, with the rest of the players cheering their teamates on from beneath wet towels and plaster casts.

The Girders had three turns to tie the game, and with Hilbauer throwing confidently for once and Mads Hajer looking sharp, they fancied their chances. Hilbauer picked up the deep punt and walked it upfield slowly; drawing the blitzers. Great blocking on the line allowed Hajer to break away down the left, as the Idiots' backfield tacklers were drawn into the scrimmage. Hilbauer broke to the right and hit the catcher with a short pass to send him sprinting into the Idiots' half, supported by men peeling off from the line. In the end, he skipped away from the trailing chasers, and good offensive blocking let the Girders cross for their second.

After the game it became clear that captain Braaten's knee injury was more serious than at first thought, and he'll be out for a few weeks.
