The crowd were growing restless waiting for the TOMAW to drag themselves onto the field, and just as the game finally got underway some wayward youths streaked across the ground stunning 3 fossils and a zombie. Any Fossil tactics were also trashed as key players spent the first turn coming to their senses. After a shaky few turns the Fossils scored, and the umpires corrected the clocks for injury time. If the Fossils weren't scared yet, they should have heeded the omen.
The extra pace that Balljuggler has recently developed paid off with his 2 long distance touchdowns. But offense was not really where this game was played. Defense and surviving the underhanded tactics of several zombies kept the coaching staff on their toes most of the game (received 7 fouls - sure that's a Fossil record too). Thankfully there was no extra time in this game.
Twahnlow Votes:
3 - #13 Murderous Intent - A fine game of blocking and assisting for the zombie, but the play of the game was Murderous Intent's catch of the ball as it bounced out of the TOMAW cage. A 1 square rush next turn lead to the eventual touchdown for Crushing Melancholy.
2 - #1 Bound and Pleading. While his partner Gagged and Chained through more blocks, it was Bound and Pleading who more often put the Fossils LOS onto the deck, vulnerable to the foul-mania exhibited by the zombies.
1 - #12 Suicidal Rage. While it's hard to admit fouling played a significant part in tactics (as opposed to just blood-lust or spite), Suicidal Rage inflicted a smashed ankle on Vugdish II and the apothecary was unable to put the pieces together again, and then damaged Rigdush's back (ongoing health problems forcing early retirement).”
