The Cairntobury-Bankstomb Bulldogs finished their first season in the CTL with a brutal victory over another team of undeath, this one with ferocious werewolves and subsequently finshed 13th in Season 5. Not a bad effort considering they played only half the season. The Lustrian Lycanthropes put up a good fight, however their necromancer a fellow by the name of DaemonicLazoth never quite managed to put his plays together today, luck was with the Bulldogs. Who again failed to live up to their pre-season claims as entertainers, instead relying on brutal blocking on both offense and defence to grind out a 1-0 lead at half time which they were able to hang onto by games end. Peter Tunks continued in his role of enforcer for the team Badly hurting the Lustrian Wight Dracon before Killing the Zombie Moranorak who subsequently failed to regenerate and was Raised from the Dead (Again!) by the Bullfrog. The Bulldogs did regain the pill from the Lycanthropes drive in the second half but attempted to be too entertaining, throwing the ball amongst the Ghouls and almost giving up the win when Terry Lamb dropped the ball over the sideline only to see the pro Lustrian crowd boot the ball into the Bulldogs half of the field with nearly all Doggies players committed upfield. Thankfully the Lustrian Ghoul failed the pickup and next turn following an excellent dodge by Steve Folkes, the Zombie Bulldog blitzed the hapless Bororgrak, sending him back to his maker in pieces and snuffing out the Lycanthropes challenge for good. The only injury concerns for the Bulldogs going into next season is a concussion to Steve Mortimer. Speaking to Peter Tunks after the game this reporter was impressed by how well the Bulldogs have taken to their new sport and the confidence that already seems evident. When asked about this Tunks replied " Yeah well it was a bit hard for all of us at the start. You know being dead and then given a second chance. I know some of the guys are still coming to terms with their reanimated bodies, not being as fast or agile as they were in real life. But frankly Im lovin it mate!! Ive never felt so strong in my life. I reckon Ive even mastered how to help out the boys when Im stuck in tackle zones and well the confidence.. Thats just us mate. We are the Bulldogs... why wouldnt we be good at this Blood Bowl gig eh! "
An excellent first season for the boys, Peter Moore and Warren Ryan have done brilliantly in their first season and should be very proud of whats been accomplished so early on. There have been no permanent losses on the team, while two opponents have crossed over and joined the dogs ranks. Building a reputation for Death with 4 kills in 4 games and with Money in the bank for next season here's hoping Season 6 will be the Year of the Dog.
