“SWL Season XIII - Channel BB Conference League - Round 5

The first half got a little bit messy. After collecting the ball, and forming a very oddly shaped cage, the orks made some minor mistakes, leaving the ball in a somewhat precarious position. Toonie's bad luck prevailed, however, and we gradually managed to move the ball up along one side of the pitch. Eventually, a touchdown was achieved in turn 7, leaving the Asgardians with two turns to try for the equaliser. Not liking their chances, they norsemen chose to put their efforts into hitting the orks that were on the line of scrimmage, leaving the score 1-0 in our favour.

The second half saw the norse "get the ref", and Toonie made quite good use of it - his dirty player getting in four fouls in this half. They picked up the ball in the first turn, and brought it up to the centre line in turn two with a pass. There must have been a little bit of misjudgment here, as the ball was left in range of an east 2d block from Bone Krasha, who wasted no time knocking down the puny ball carrier. A lucky bounce left it in her hands, and the orks formed a semi-cage around her, and pull the ball safely out of range of the norsemen who had taken an unwholesome interest in Throat Rippa, whose prone body was a source of entertainment until she was removed from the pitch by ground staff. It seemed that neither team wanted any more pain, and a standoff took the game through to turn eight, where Loony Tossa took the ball in for a touchdown.

Although he never managed to inflict any casualties, his efforts certainly helped the Asgardians. He did manage to break through the "tough" ork armour 4 times (in fact .. every time he knocked one of them down), and was unlucky to get only a stun each time.

The only Asgardian to lay his hands on the ball. Maybe if the rest of the team had focused a little more on ball control (and less on pushing the orks around), his efforts would not have been in vain.
