My second game back from my fumbbl hiatus, and a good one at that.

In the first half the ball bounced around a bit and my dwarves wandered around and hit things. We got a ton of KOs. At the end of the half, they scored a miracle touchdown to take a 2-1 lead.
They recieved at the start of the second half, and quickly turned it over. What followed was what makes this game so great. Some caging, bashing, and a little stalling worked me down to their goal line on turn 7, with him having only 2 skinks and a saurus left on the field. But I tried to stall a little too long, and the skinks came through for a 1D pow on my runner. Then, with time running out, the skink grabbed the ball and dashed up field to put the game away. But my slayer raced towards him, and made a GFI tackle. And then things got really nuts. My other slayer raced up field, GFIed to get the ball, and threw a long bomb (remember, he's AG2) to my runner standing on the goal line. And it worked. And he caught it. And we scored.
DrDiscoStu was a good opponent, and never complained about my rather bashy tactics or his horrible luck late in the game. I highly reccomend him.

I'm a bit of a n00b to fumbbl, I never knew you could make game comments. Do people read them?

Anyway. This was a great game although somewhat strange in many ways. What my opponent didn't say was that I was a bit lucky in the first half, although this was a bit of a recovery game for me. I didn't think my second TD was that much of a miracle - From memory, in one turn I had to: pick up a ball, recieve a hand off and make 6 dodge rolls, but with an ag4 skink (stunty, dodge) and a reroll handy these things aren't impossible.

The game was strange because at the end I quietly felt like I deserved to win, because of his amazing last TD. But then I started thinking about it. I had 8 players at the start of the game, 3 players left at the end of it, and my first half was pretty lucky all over. Not to mention the fact that his 'slow steady grind' seemed like a better tactic than my 'rushing all skinks towards the end zone and seeing what happens'.

I think I was pretty luck to get away with a draw. Plus the memory of one of the better games I've been a part of. My opponent and I were joking and egging each other on the whole time, but making no apologies for doing damage or fouling. The way it should be. I very much hope to play him again one day, especially as both these teams must feel like they have unfinished business.

Final word: I've always thought that, as a tactic, stalling is overrated. It's Blood Bowl, anything can happen, take your chances when you get them. Just my opinion.
