I started with a good roster (only one block Beastman missing) and a wizard against only 10 wood elves and their wizard.
With only one Wardancer (unskilled), it promised a tough time for the elves.
They had a one turner in their team, that made my offense tactics a bit complicated.
I can't remember exactly the progression our game, but I know, that we had to interrupt our game after the 16th turn.
It was 1:1 and we both lost many players.
Their treeman killed two players.
With 8 players of the chaos against 6 wood elves, the overtime seemed to be a balanced game.
And it was a balanced game.
When the elves kicked off, I could not manage to get any elve down (8 pushes in a row).
With only two players in the backland, it was not possible to secure the ball carrier well enough.
In the next 2 rounds I lost and got again the ball without using any reroll.
It's very hard to knock those dodging elves down if my tackler was gone and the other one sticked on the los.
Somehow i build up a simple cage and had only 2 players before my scoring zone.
They couldn't even try to get in touch with the ball handler and so I scored in the 6th turn of the overtime.
With loosing one more player - 7 vs 6 AND their one turner - I expected a coin toss at the end of this game, but it became differently.
Blitz for my players, with 4 GFI and a reroll i could knock their one turner down and had also a player in reserve to intercept evading elves trying to catch a ball.
Luckily the attempt to catch the ball failed. It was easy then with a blitz onto the last possible scorer and pick up with a second player who has sure hands.
Final result: 2-1
Before this game I looked at the undead team that is waiting in the finals for the winner with anticipation... but after the game we are now the underdog with a 12 players roster and many unskilled players.
Will our luck reach for one more game?
The recovery phase between qualifiers and the finals would be of good use for us.
All in all it was a thrilling game where my opponent had clearly bad luck (expect with his handicap which was smelling salts and got him all his total ?10? ko players back).
Good luck in your future, ankkh!”
