“Down to nine women, the Chicks went begging for a match to help them get back in shape for the X-cup. And, finally, things went more or less according to plan.

The Chicks were unstoppable in their blocking all game, knocking down opponents on almost every attempt. Dodge and GFI failures were few. The opponent's luck was unbelievably poor. The Chicks steamrolled to a 3-0 win. After the tragedy of the last two matches, the team was finally taking some steps towards rebuilding.

But wait... paltry winnings (rolled 2) left the Chicks coffers 10K short of acquiring a fourth blitzer... their main reason for playing. A straight 1 for fan factor was an extra slap in the face. At least a first skill was coming up for linewoman Betty Lynn... who promptly picked up an ageing niggle while rolling a normal skill.

So, with the X-Cup draw coming shortly, the Chicks are done with tuneup matches, having lost 39 points of team strength in an attempt to get better. Hopefully they can put up a good fight in the first round...”
