Match started good since we got the opportunity to hit first but one of my professionals was sent off after kindly rubbing the head of the norse's ogre (stun). Then Zara swirled around and KO'd Heineken for me, so Luthor had to watch his steps in order to get hold on the ball. After a few bashy turns it turned out that Courageous probably paid some money to the prince of the night since he unexpectedly went prone after a lonely, weak norse lineman blitzed him. In the run, he got the ball too, so our star wight, Bud the buddy had to take the mission to hunt him down. After a slight hesitation before the hit (rr) he acomplished the task but the damn ball scattered into the endzone and we couldn't dare to ask the traitor Luthor to try to pick it up. That turned out to be a bad decission since the agile norseman dodged right beside the vampire and threw the ball just under his arms to his waiting teammate who runned into almost safety. The word almost was transformed into absolute after Bud fumbled during his sprint to catch up with the ball carrier. Crowd roared as Sadahiko scored a shocking TD during the undead's attacking drive.
Half time brought many interesting things. First of all: Zara was sent off by the sharp eyed ref for using a very strange looking stick. KO rolls wasn't too good for neither team, but the norse suffered from that more. Still it looked like an easy victory since Courageous hired a talented magician who stood anxiously beside the field to earn his money with a spectacular spell.
The norsemen sent 3 players upfield to threat with a deadly lead of 2-0. Undeads formed some defence but they knew the surprise is coming. In a blink of an eye a lightning struck Luthor prone and that opened the way to the endzone for Courageous' star catcher. He is not as agile as his thrower team-mate it was still the later who fumbled a ridicoulosly easy pass. That was the turning point, altough the route for the equalising TD was a bit adventurous. Heineken got the ball but soon found himself among the fans after a rough close quarter wrestling near the sideline. Fans threw the ball just before a norse lineman who dodged perfectly away from a mummy, grabed the plaything and rushed towards safety... what he never reached since he triped and crashed so hard to the ground that the stadium staff had to carry him off with an aching head. Now it was again Luthor who gathered the ball and started a long run towards the other end of the playground. 1-1 just before the final whistle was blown.
This time headcoach Gatts was more successful in ordering his men back to the field (5 from 6 KO's) but despite that Courageous had to kick the ball in numerical inferiority. AV7 versus MB's and fouling took it's toll and the undead slowly and mercilesly butchered the brave norse one after the other. 2-1 and there was not enough time and men to tie the score.
All in all was a great, long and exciting battle where both coaches agreed that they played a bit rusty. I can only speak about myself and state that my crappy play was almost ruined my win. Two misclicks, silly positioning, changing plans constantly during turns, just to name a few hilarious action from my repertoare. Hope I can get myself in one piece soon since that level of play will not be tolerated in the final.”
