“Well that game capped off a rather dodgy season. You'd think that starting the season as one of the few teams with any experience would almost ensure their promotion, but apparently not. They had a strong start to the season (other then the opening round) and were looking good for second place. But they had a brilliant plan to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, managing only 4 points from the last 4 games.
For the early stages of this game the Woodies could do no wrong, and while they did foul up a few times later in the game, they still had no trouble scoring at will, my defense was softer then paper bag soaked in acid.
Twahnlows:
3 Points have to go to that bloody Wardancer, Hangers Size 32. He just refused to go down and whalloped everyone that came near him.
2 Points: Tip Rat, he was in the thick of it all game, and while his casualty was healed by the apothecary, it WAS the only one caused by the Woodies.
1 Point goes to Huchy, the noises emanating from the KO box for much of the game distracted my players no end, how he had the stamina to keep the elf-maiden satisfied after the hits he took on the field, I shall never know.”
“What a change of fortunes for the Woodies a 3-2 win against a star studded Real high elves (RHE). It also meant the DDs have won 3 on the trot which should see them take lots of confidence into their 2nd season.
This was always going to be a tough match and when news broke that Prince Morainon had offered his services (in exchange for copious amounts of magic dust) things looked bleak. However Hangers decided it was his time to shine and played like and absolute iron man (inquest into his use of drugs abuse currently underway). He single handedly gave the woddies a 1-0 lead after kicking off which proved to be the crucial TD.
TDs were traded before and after half time leaving the scores at 3-2 woodies recieving with 3 turns left. Some poor ball handling early meant the RHE managed to get into a very strong position and looked certain to tie things up. Red Cat however had different ideas and somehow managed to knock over Collymore and throw a pass into open space and out of harms way.
The only downside to the victory was Hutchy's refusal to return to the pitch after getting jiggy with one of the elf-maidens who helped him recover from his knock to the head. Hutchy will have to pull his socks (and pants!) up he wants to return to the starting line up next season.
Twahnloes
#3 Sankha Rella: controlled the offence for the high elves and apperead to be the only player on their team who had not been on an all night bender with Prince the night before
#2 Melindi Gracias: Was easily the most potent attacking weopon the RHE had at their disposal
#1 Kali Biangi: Some big hits and some good kicks, solid but probably feels he could have done better
4-0-2 not bad for the first season of SWL and the boys look to finally have made the adjustment from the amatuer leagues. Next season their aim will be to top their region an make it to the confrence. This ambition has been bolstered by Coach Ekers signing on for another 3 seasons. ”
