“Truly a sad sad match for the Bengals. Apparently things did not improve in the off-season for the team from Cincinati.
Jon Kitna was in true form today, going 1-4 and having trouble picking up the ball. Sadly the only casualty of the game came when a Bronco lineman tripped on the turf and hit his head pretty bad. Matt O'Dwyer, who had also fallen down, trying to tie his shoe, was awarded the casualty, probably out of sympathy. Levi Jones was awarded the MVP for the Bengals for breaking the team record for spending the most time in the KO box, missing nearly the entire game.
As far as the rest of the games highlights...well, talk to the Broncos coach, because we don't have any.
Hopefully this won't be a sign of the upcoming season, but knowing the Bengals true form, this home opener was probably the best they will play.”
“The Broncos got off to a great start against a hapless-as-usual Bengal team. The opening Bronco drive suffered a turnover near the red-zone, stalling what had been a great drive. But some spectacular defense, led by MVP Trevor Pryce, got the ball back. Portis made it into the end zone with just under 1 minute left to play in the half.
The second half did not fair any better for the Bengals. The Bronco Defense had the Bengals covered, surprising Kitna, for a costly fumble. In a mad scramble to get rid of the ball, the offense was caught off guard. It took a while for the pile to get sorted out, but the Broncos recovered.
New acquisition Jake Plummer had a better second half, completing a TD pass to Rod Smith to seal the game. Jason Elam, usually a sure bet missed both extra points. Somehow the Bengals ended up with only one point, (one BH). Go figure that the Bengals were able to get that one :)
Final score:
Broncos: 12
Bengals: 1”
